What's /co/ opinion on the new ThunderCats?
It was OK, but not as good as it could have been. Plenty of missed opportunities.
Cancelled for a reason.
Pilot was great, then got got really, REALLY shitty.
First two episodes, the two part pilot, was really good. Then someone had the bright idea to get rid of the writers and it very quickly became a pile of shit that dropped interesting parts of their personality in episode 3. Or maybe the writers just quit for whatever reason. Important thing is that the writers who did the good stuff in the pilot all left and were replaced.

Good pilot, but otherwise, pic related is the only good thing to come from that show.
I have never seen a show turn from awesome to absolute garbage in such a short amount of time.
Short Version: The good writers got kicked out after the pilot.
Long Version: And their replacement writers were massive Tygra fanboys. The voice actor for Lion-o has spoken about how much work it was just to get an episode ABOUT Lion-o, never mind him actually doing anything useful.
Consider, in the pilot Lion-o is the tech enthusiast and whilst Tygra is tougher than him, they're not so far apart. Also Tygra is a regular big brother to him.
After the pilot Lion-o forgets everything about technology, and Tygra starts shitting all over him at every opportunity.

A very promising and good pilot, but the following episodes are big disappointment. It's a real shame, frankly.

You can almost physically feel the drop in quality after the pilot. I rewatched a few episodes recently to see if I was being unfair to the show, and I still liked the pilot episodes, but the show drops off really, really quickly after that. Characterizations (especially Lion-O) taking a hit was one of the major things that turned me off. It was like getting to know a stranger and having the impression that he's a great guy, but the next day you talk to him he acts like an asshole.
In an alternate universe Thundercats 2011 got to live up to its potential and was a great hero's journey story.

It's not entirely shit after the pilot. There are a few really decent episodes scattered throughout, any of the sci-fi flashbacks to LionO's ancestors are very cool and pretty much anything to do with WilyKit/Kat is handled well. At the same time though, there is a lot of crap in there as well.

There's too many good episodes for it to be an overall 4/10. I'd say 6 or 7 instead. There ARE random 4/10 episodes in there though, like that Moby Dick one.
Like it's been said before it's clear that while they HAD an ongoing story idea kind of going, they defaulted to the whole "episodic action cartoon" format immediately after, and just gave a bunch of writers a free pass to make whatever episode they wanted even if it didn't make thematic sense.
Normally I am not into furries, if these guys count that is, but I would so do both Lion-o and Tygra.
Don't care what anyone else says, Cheetara was hot.
