When was the last time you watched cartoons on one of these things? I honestly don't know how you could even stand to.
>>
I'm 1997 and what is that?
>>
Let's just say I wasn't hooked to the TV. Freaking kids these days, with their facebooks and their HD subs.
>>
>>77343259
I still have a crt tv and still watch on it. It makes me keep my youth while I watch old vhs recording of fox kids
>>
>>77343272
This meme is getting old, I already saw it in the Dexter's Lab, Fox kids, and Kids' WB threads

Also, CRTs were still very much in use from 2000-2005. You should remember shit from when you were 3-8, unless your parents whacked you in the head with a metal bat.
>>
I watched some older season Simpsons on one that I keep around for retro video games

Looked pretty fine actually. It's less blurry than when I watch them on my HDTV.
>>
I still don't have a flat screen. Am I poor ?
>>
>>77343259
Just under 2 hours ago. I prefer it.
>>
>>77343259
I think mine is busted. All it does is play Teen Titans GO over and over.
>>
Today
>>
>>77343323
>am I poor ?
Considering you put a space between the question mark and words means you're European, so probably yes.
>>
>>77343323

Yes. Yes you are, you Europoor.

I didn't get a flatscreen/HD tv until last year. Actually, I still don't have one since it's my roommate who couldn't live without one.

I also had pic related until I was like 13.
>>
>>77343259
When tvs switched to HD I was too poor to get an adaptor
>>
>>77343259
I'm actually watching TV on a CRT now, only TV I got, but I only get public channels. Don't have cable or satellite or whatever. Only cartoons I get are the Simpsons and seth macfarlen's shit and I've never liked either.
>>
>>77343259
OP, what is that black square thing? I only watch cartoons on my Holo-3D Quantumcaster.
>>
>>77343259
Still have one. Still the only TV I use.
>>
CRT or HD? Why does it matter? Do people other than old people even watch television anymore?
>>
>>77343497

Poor or just a hipster?
>>
>>77343514
Not him, but crt is needed for older video game systems.
>>
>>77343527

Ah yes, people on /vr/ say that all the time. Although I think they have dedicated threads for that sort of thing. Too bad the traffic in that place is slow
>>
>>77343514
>Poor

This plus /vr/ related concerns as these posters pointed out: >>77343527 >>77343540
>>
>>77343259
Bash em all you want but those things were built to last unlike flat screens that die after 4 years.
>>
When those things showed cartoons instead of shitty TV shows and series.
>>
>>77343497
Same here.
>>77343550
>>Poor
Same here.

Though there was once one of those fancy new flat TVs in our household for a few days, but it had to go since it was a present for someone else. Felt like living in the 2010s for a while.Yes, I'm European.
>>
>>77343505
Seriously. I thought this thread was about TVs in general.
>>
>>77343527
just emulate it you fuck face
>>
>>77344155

This. Who the fuck does not has a decent PC in this day and age? People who uses phones and laptops on 4chan should be banned.
>>
>>77343259
It's possible.
TV still has a safe zone where they put most text and visuals so that you can watch most programs on one of these
>>
A couple of weeks ago.
I had a CRT TV in the kitchen up until just then when lightning blew it out, and public access is still in 4:3 SD in my neck of the woods. More often than not while making dinner I tend to have awful asian dubs of Spongebob showing for the sake of having something on while I'm around
>>
>>77344210
>TV still has a safe zone where they put most text and visuals so that you can watch most programs on one of these
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.
>>
>>77344193
Light gun games don't work on emulators. Some games are also difficult to impossible to play on a keyboard. Some games just aren't emulated at all.
>>
>>77344377

>Light gun games don't work on emulators. Some games are also difficult to impossible to play on a keyboard

There's programs and plugins you can use for controllers.
>>
>>77343304
I own a CRT monitor, I was using it until a year back when my TV's aux input broke. now I keep it for the inevitable moment when this shitty flatscreen dies.
>>
>>77344456
LIGHT GUN GAMES REQUIRE TRADITIONAL TVs. WHAT PART OF THIS DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?
>>
>>77343259
Why would I watch them on anything else? Computer screen is a lot smaller.
>>
>>77343259
Are you talking about TV in general, or about this particular kind of TV?
>>
All the time, I have my laptop connected to it and it acts as my media hub.

I'm constantly streaming cartoons and games on it.
>>
>>77344585

This. I don't watch tv all that much and I just download whatever I want to watch on my laptop and then connect it on my LCD tv. Television is truly a thing of the past.

I still use a CRT as my second monitor and often have cartoons on it while doing other stuff. I don't get what the big deal is, sure it's a little smaller, but it has far better colors and scales better.

Honestly, if it weren't for consumer technophilia, constantly mistaking "newer" for "better", CRTs would still have a niche. But the companies are glad CRTs died anyway because their shipping costs are extremely high. Plus they're pretty energy inefficient.
>>
>bought a crt / VCR combo with my own money in 1994
>Just bought a flat screen TV / monitor combo last month to replace it.

The VCR still worked. I used to tape TechTV anime blocks on that thing.
>>
It's been a long time since I had a TV.

It feels like just a worse version of a computer.
>>
>>77347794
Using a phone on 4chan is not a old man
>>
I didn't get a flat screen until a few months ago.

While I assume the noise filter, which is built into all TVs these days, has gotten rid of the annoying static lines I've been seeing since the cable companies all switched to digital, I have noticed that motion is now slightly blurred.
>>
>>77347903

Still used by kids and normies.

Had a flat screen one until 2012, actually.

>>
I have a small flatscreen and a tiny as fuck CRT. I still use the CRT sometimes because I still like those types of TVs

I have a smallish CRT stored away for when I pull out old game systems.

Occasionally play an old DVD on it. But modern players with upscalers have come a long way. As long as the DVD is anamorphic then it looks basically the same to me.

I play Melee on mine, there about it.
>>
>>77344880
The reason you don't play classic game consoles on digital displays is because they use an analog signal which has to be upscaled. Which, depending on the model of the TV, usually takes at least 1/20th of a second and can even take nearly 1/4th. And if you play video games online, you know what 250ms lag is like.

Emulators certainly solve this problem for reasons I don't think I need to explain (the signal has always been digital and most monitors have at most 5ms lag between digital signal in and picture out).

Some people like classic hardware and classic peripherals. And most emulators have serious problems. In fact I would say only the NES and SNES have really authentic emulators and some consoles (such as the N64 and the PS2) still only have complete pieces of shit whereas others (such as the XBox) can barely be said to have any emulators at all. But if you only care about playing a game and aren't too picky about your experience, then usually you can get by with emulators.
>>
>>77343259
I still have one of those. Watch cable on it.
>>
i have one of this
i dont really see it so much, most of the time it just makes background noise or lights the room
i believe simpsons is the only cartoon i actually see on in also bdz but thats weebshit
>>
It's been a while because I mostly watch newer cartoons on my computer, but I still have a CRT. Bought the thing back in 98 or so, and it hasn't shown any color change or sound degradation. No sense in trying to move the behemoth and buying a flat screen when it still works perfectly fine.

I still buy BluRay/DVD combo packs so I can watch movies on it too.
