Good evening owls of /co/,

hnnng dat Legion thread
>>77332738
Hello Storyteller.
It's about time we saw what Tasmia was up to. Apparently on Talok VII, one can only be considered a badass if one dresses like a damn fool in combat. At least it's not called "armor".
>>77332738
Why does Tasmia need a codpiece? More importantly, why isn't it skull-shaped?
>>77332787
The thread survived longer than I thought it would!
The sales thread was mostly depressing but had a couple uplifting things about it. Namely Paper Girls debuting well.
But the actual numbers are gonna be gross.
IIM how high,do you think?
>>77332789
WE BARBARIAN NOW
>>77332799
Right? She may as well go full ham and start taking costuming tips from Artemis.
>>77332787
There are not enough Legion threads on /co/. Unless you count these storytimes of course.
>>77332824
Entirely too high
Man, if that X-Fanfic is actually not fanfic, that is some rank bullshit to make the fans mad
but the bit about FF/X-Men characters having to share a book somehow with someone Marvel owns movie rights to--that's....oddly plausible
>>77332868
I am still cracking up on how it ended up on Bleeding Cool.
>>77332868
d-d-dat ass
>>77332911
Rich is one shameless motherfucker
>>77332868
>that is some rank bullshit to make the fans mad
I think that's what makes it so easy to believe.
>>77332921
I remember when he took all of those FRANK edits.
Goddamn haha.
Soooo. Robinson's SW interview. His heart is definitely in the right place and his thoughts are sound, but I'm not sure about how the execution's going to pan out...
>>77332921
I'm still laughing at how that Grayson "controversy" got an article there. It was like a couple dozen people at most being mad at a book or each other, with Seeley handling it like a champ.
I guess a few tweets is enough to make an article nowadays.
I hate the gamergaeization of /co/, I wish there was a better term for angry racist knee jerk bitter nerds
>>77332868
My only problem with those x rumors are the writers behind it, fuck bunn/land
>>77332828
What became of Skartaris in a thousand years? Might still be around and waiting for future heroes to have pulp style adventures in it.
>>77332868
>after dark
I wonder if Tasmia knows what that phrase means. Would she see it as a mockery of her culture?
>>77332964
He likes to magnify things when it's a pet issue of his or rings some of his bells
>>77333007
The AV Club had a brutal, brutal review of Extraordinary. Good times. That book deserved it.
>>77333007
Oh, remember when we tried to get him to hate Worlds End and that backfired.
>>77333042
Reading WE is still its own punishment, at least.
>>77333042
Hey, at least in sales this past month, Green Arrow outsold E2S, which is sinking like the awful rock it is
>>77332969
>I hate the gamergaeization of /co/, I wish there was a better term for angry racist knee jerk bitter nerds
Same, but I don't think there's anything we can do about it. Clearly the mods don't see any need to deal with it for whatever reason.

Oh too true.

Yup.

Of course.
Shadow Maven has a pretty sweet cyberpunk visor there.
>>77333096
Ending it is for the best. Abnett can then write a REAL JSA book.
>>77333133
>The much-delayed Uncanny X-Men isn’t a particularly good issue—it focuses on Bendis’ regrettable characterization of Beast and features an extremely problematic coming-out conversation between teen and adult Bobby Drake—but it ends with a moment that celebrates the expansive history of the X-Men, assembling all the mutants for a speech from Cyclops on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The monologue isn’t as inspirational as Bendis wants it to be: Cyclops’ overall message is “humans don’t have to be afraid of mutants because we can gather in one place and not kill them or each other.” But knowing the future, the issue could have ended with a wave of Terrigen killing off the auxiliary characters and sterilizing the ones that still have large enough fan bases to keep selling comics. Extraordinary X-Men #1 takes place eight months after the events of Bendis’ finale, and in that time, Cyclops did something so horrible that mutants are hated more than ever before. The characters talk about what Cyclops did but don’t actually reveal what he did, resulting in clunky, frustratingly vague dialogue.
>>77333133
>I want everything E2 to be retconned with the fist of an angry, ANGRY god
Retconned as in, start over without all the bullshit, or "Let's all agree that none of this ever happened."?
>>77333155
Oliver Sava also has a whole string of tweets from before he posted the review, that are all good sense
Marvel isn't just trying to make the Inhumans the X-Men, it's trying to make the X-Men the Inhumans
Why is Jean Grey the heart of the X-Men? When was this decided? On what grounds?
Who got screwed worse by Bendis: Scarlet Witch, Beast, or (insert character here)?
Ugh Uncanny 600. That Bobby scene is so problematic and awkward
What would have been the backlash if adult Bobby came out as bi?
>>77333217
>Let's all agree that none of this ever happened.
Best option
>>77333217
Just start over. Maybe keep some of the character designs, maybe. Flush it all.
>>77333217
I'd prefer the first.
Make a second book like Earth 2: World's Finest or something and banish any and all batcharacters and supercharacters there if they must. Just so they won't be tempted to litter one book with them to the point where half the cast is related to Batman or Superman.
>>77332921
He proved that hardcore when he dumped leaked emails that most amounted to "Rich Johnston kind of sucks, doesn't he", said as much in the headline, then pretended the article wasn't about that.
What a shithead.
>>77333245
Yeah, they should just have some kind of cosmic crisis and start all over again, wouldn't be the first time it's happened in DC.
>>77333227
I realize I'm probably the only person who gives a shit, but I was kind of bummed that they made Grev an evil dick in this.
>>77333245
>>77333227
>Who got screwed worse by Bendis: Scarlet Witch, Beast, or (insert character here)?
You know what, Beast was him not altering the poor path Beast had been going down for a long time. Wanda got fucked from a relatively decently place because he decided to do so, exacerbated by the fact that they forgot to give her a consistent personality for like 50 years.
>>77333306
...or just start over on the main Earth with the new Kent

>>77333309

>>77333320
True, Bendis alone has not fucked up Beast, many people have had a hand in it
Wanda was just him taking a huge shit all over her.
>>77333350
Vizh has gotten a ton of positive press
maybe we'll get 10 issues
>>77333227
Backlash would have been of a mostly confused state, because I don't think Bendis is hip enough to modern sexuality to go "People don't always know their sexuality as hard as a rock when they're fucking 16 and can change even decades later", considering he used a telepath to skip character development. Like, adult Bobby could be bi while teen Bobby identifies as gay, realizing a long, winding history...
But that's not something I'd trust any long term Marvel or Big 2 writer in general to be able to write and handle tastefully. Not a lot of straight writers I'd trust to do that.
I think the backlash would've mostly been "but why?" and Bendis would go "BIG PLANS!" like he always does.
>>77333227
>this page
Yeah, irony's a bitch, ain't it, Tasmia.
>You're angry.
She's always angry.
>>77333308
Grev is one of those characters who has so little to do with anything, that new writers end up doing radically different things with them. Not often for the better.

The thing is, bi Bobby (if only because that's the simplest and most concise way to go about it, not because it's the only option) could be resolved concisely and without bringing any bad blood into contradictory stories. Because it wouldn't retroactively make Bobby look dishonest or troubled in any way.
>>77333518
I'm still baffled as to why Lemire keeps getting team books. He may have improved, but it'll take an entire arc to see and I highly doubt he's gonna be much better.

How sad that people are willing to accept crap so long as it isn't Bendis crap. The bar has been lowered so much.

Nope. I wonder what they're going to do when Inhumans crashes and burns too?
>>77333609
X-Men fans are probably the most loyal battered spouse in all of comics, by now
>>77333320
The real turning point was for Beast was when he left Cyclops X-Men on Utopia because he felt betrayed by Scott. Since then he has made a series of increasingly bad decisions.
I think Bendis stayed true to this character arc because right to the very end Beast was trying to blame Scott for the things that had gone wrong.
>>77333604
Hahah that's good to hear OP.
And good.
Yesterday had a fine Steve thread, and currently storytiming Stray Bullet
>>77333592
It would've been ridiculously, stupidly easy to make Bobby bi. Jesus christ, it would've been so, so easy.
Making him gay is possible, absolutely, but you need someone with more talent and willingness to actually spend time on writing it than Bendis. None of either of those coming out scenes felt convincing. The mass majority of queer X-Men readers I've talked to have rolled their eyes at it, and gone "Could've gone worse".
I mean, except to Brett White, but, you know.
>>77333609
Dude, I'm pretty sure the Shadow Force is made of her dead ancestors or something.

I believe Wacker was the editor on the pre-SW run. Dunno who is now.
This is totally something Wacker would give a big thumbs up to, though, while Brevoort and Alonso probably just nod along.
I always wonder what Big 2 editors say "no" to, not because "You can't use this character" but because "This is in bad taste" or "This is poorly written, you can do better".
They really need more people up top saying "This is in bad taste", I know that much.

Reading comments around the net on EXM now...
I don't think Marvel's looking to get rid of X-Men, but they're certainly not looking to pushing them to new greatness again. That's the obvious thing, and everyone's glossing over it.
They don't want X-Men dead, they want X-Men to boost Inhumans sales. Making mutants extinct would betray that, but it also means mutants now have a very clear corporate role: Attach much more popular characters to less popular franchise, be it through conflict or something else.
People citing Bendis new mutants as evidence of new characters is probably the funniest thing, though. What great moments did we get from Triage, Morph, Goldballs, Hijack...? Anybody other than Tempus...?
Like, it's right there, only a few Inhumans have name recognition, and even Black Bolt's pales in comparison to some b-lister X-Men.

No, not for a little while.
>>77335216
We've got 12 or so issues left
>>77335155
April '01 to December '03.
Compare January '63 to September '63 for the first time.
>>77335102
Good stuff OP!
>>77335251
So what was your reaction to this?
>>77335049
I knew something was up when the founders weren't being jerks to Superboy
>>77335326
Laughter, DNA got me good.
finding him floating in space is too easy so this twist might be cool
>>77335185
I think it's just the second time overall, and the first time in this 'boot.
>>77335049
If I didn't know better, I would be banking on a construct that's neither. But it's probably Actually Garth because I'm not fond of him, blame the Bierbaums for that.
>>77335553
I know it's the falsest praise but better than the proty bullyshit
>>77335553
I don't even count Bierbaums Lightning Lad as Garth.
>>77335604
What's worse, both Proty and SW6 Garth were dicks. Lose-lose.
>>77334080
>Cos is a history nerd
as if he couldn't get more perfect
>>77335778
We've known that for a while.

would have been better if I hadn't read Lo3W before this and gotten spoiled
>>77335102
Thanks again OP
>>77332738
I was sick and didn't even notice storytime. I thought OP was still on vacation hot damn.
>>77334746
That fifth panel might be the most moe thing I've ever seen
he's BLUSHING
>>77335049
I don't get it. How Garth's soul end up in the back up copy but not Jan?
>>77336970
Also his arms are posed like he's about to hug you.
>>77337587
Didn't Jan turn into a terrifying abomination at the end though? Like, after that I'm willing to believe all kinds of weird shit can happen.
>>77335049How can he have sex with Imra as crystal. Wait why is that the first thing I thought of.
>>77337666
Yeah that's why I'm confused. I think he merged with that alien thing and Garth blew himself up inside of it so how did Garth's soul end up in the crystal but Jan's didn't? Did they have a three for all for the backup copy?
>>77337675Because his dick is literally diamonds.
>>77337587
>>77337704
I feel like this is a Read And Find Out kind of thing. At least I hope so.
>>77337704
Pretty clear Ayla bringing the crystals caused it imo
>>77337732
You rang?
>>77337675
asking the questions that need to be answered
>>77337732
My sides are in orbit. I wish I had a laughing Legion image for this.Someone should write Imra/Garth with Garth in Jan's body with the two of them trying to do things as a couple again. Tons of fail sex and angst/hc.
>>77337704
Here >>77333946 it's said that the second crystal came from where they died. So the first crystal held Jan's shape, and the second held Garth's soul. As for why Garth managed to have his soul preserved, I guess it was dumb luck.
>>77337770
>>77337776
>>77337810
Just going to blame it on dumbass luck.
>>77336970
>>77337591
>tfw Jan won't be this moe ever again
Why live.
>>77337897
That is what a lot of Garth's life comes down to.
>>77334746
The good thing about this is that it was nice enough to his memory to get you feeling kind of good again and then they pull this >>77335049 out and you realize it was kind of a weird place for a recap anyway if something like that wasn't coming
>>77337976
To keep the memories alive.
i figured out how to bring Sneckie into Retroboot, just do the same dumb random evolving plot or however she because a snake-taur only it turns classic Jeckie into a snake
and she's totally cool with it
I wrote something back during the Threeboot run that was a weird crossover with Toaru No Index.
>Jan was Accelerator as in he was the strongest and most feared in the city but didn't use his powers to harm or kill people. Always on the run.
>Brainy was Reboot Brainy except C.O.M.P.U.T.O. could turn into a giant mech like the cartoon and he could pilot it.
>Rokk and Kid Q were part of a L.E.G.I.O.N. version of Judgement and Rokk was the leader who stalked after Garth and Imra.
>Imra controlled the whole police force
>Lighting lord was meltdowner
>Garth and Ayla could 'fuse' together to form some super lighting person
It was very weird.
>>77338157
Random evolving plot is too long and complicated, just have her be bitten by a weresnake or something.
>>77338157
why do the people in these storytimes have better ideas than many of the writers.
>>77338187
A Space WereSnake
>>77338210
Sadly, we're probably better-read than many of the writers.
>>77338157
I'd say to just change her name and have her be a princess from a different planet. They aren't similar enough to me to turn the old version into the new one.
Cosplay anon here. I never made a Legion belt before but I will try. I don't know what to do about Brainy's hair either since it's slicked back in Threeboot.
>>77338254
Fair enough, you'd have to give her a new power unless Jeckie is still Reserve. Which really why wouldn't she
>>77338254
And who's to say Projectra can't have a talking snake BFF?
>>77338157
I want my Sneckie and my Norg back.
I want Brainy to stop crying over Supergirl in any run but Reboot.
>>77338317
Jeckie's powers when she became Sensor Girl were pretty advanced, they might be sufficiently different from Sneckie's
>>77338157
But half the fun is that Sneckie has always been a snake and has cute snake habits.
They're just different people, it's no big deal, let's not smoosh them together.
>>77338306
You're using a wig right? Can you use hair product on wigs?
>>77338088
;_;
Trying to write that Jan doesn't die fanfiction and it's very very hard because I never wrote h/c and heavy angst before. I'm going to use Imra's trippy dream as a real plot point and make shit up as I go. It's going to be in Jan's POV.
>>77338326
Goddammit if Karate Kid were still around I'd say give their kid the run in with the space were-snake and continue on the legacy.
>>77338403
Yeah, I've come around on just sticking her on the team and having a throw away line about she just joined.
>>77338429
>Hair products
Nah a lot of them don't work on wigs because of 'real hair' issues. (What works on real hair won't exactly work on wigs.) But things like go2b do work and spiking products because I tested them. Some even damage wigs so I have to be careful.
I also have a round face so I'm working on contouring. I'm not exactly sure how this is going to look but I want to do it so badly.
>>77338497
>contouring
Godspeed. Shit's hard enough to get the hang of when you're trying to look like yourself, keep a light hand and practice in as many different lighting situations as you can.
>>77338591
I have six months to learn how to make a force field belt and how to contour properly. I did ok makeup at the last convention but I don't have confidence yet. If push comes to shove I'll commission someone to do the wig for me and focus on that.
My goal is to not half ass this. Found a DIY pillow group from lurking and I know where to get green makeup. I might have to ask my mom or one of my older relatives to help me sew green gloves though for my hands so I don't have to paint them.
I dropped one outfit to focus sorely on this. I won't give up.
>>77338731
Threeboot Brainy wore gloves sometimes.
>>77338812
Yeah I remember! The person that's helping me with my outfit didn't know that so I had to go through my HD for Threeboot issues panels lol.
>>77338812
Man I fucking love Manapul
>>77339205
He was the best thing about that book while he was on it.
>>77339249
He seems to just draw Karate Kid as Ryu sometimes which is hilarious.
Karate Kid vs Random Character is my favorite type of commission now
>>77339205
>>77339249
He was the only good thing about that book. You have good artwork then you have stuff like this.
>Cos and Q
>Jan Garth/Imra
This series had issues.
>>77339541
>>77340191
What's so weird about Cos and Kid Quantum?
>>77340567
>>77339541
you have any more?
>>77340616
i literally just googled Karate Kid vs and scrolled through images
>>77340616
Only other one I have.
>>77340695
>>77340716
Thanks anon. Tempted to ask for a Karate Kid vs Ryu.
>>77340604
Nothing it was just unexpected.
>>77341186
I guess so. Although it's nothing compared to how weird Threeboot's pairings got.
>>77340991
It's weird, no matter how many weird matchups there are in these commissions, I can't find any against Ryu.
Boop
>>77342014I didn't like any of Threeboot's pairings. I wanted my Princess/Karate kid.
>>77342753
This picture is glorious on so many levels.
>>77342014
Threeboot might be the only boot that I didn't like any of the romance pairings at all. The only thing that can top that is the decade old Brainy/Kara bullshit.
>>77347496
>*decades not decade.
>>77347496I like Brainy/Kara.
