i don't see it, neither visually or in the way the characters act, Cat is in constant misery, Dog just doesn't suffer because he lives in his own ignorance, almost all the backgrounds are painted in a very muddy way so they look filthy, specially catdog house, also as mentioned before almost every characters is an enemy or bully of the main characters which really drives a message of disgrace and misery, remember Catdog gets constantly bullied and rejected just because how he is and the bullies rarely get their comeuppance

That's why I hated it. It's like a failed version of EEnE where you have the main characters being punching bags for everyone else. But that show was funny and weird in a good way. This... not so much.

I didn't hate the show, but it was in a grey area between sadist show and Ren and Stimpy. It was a little gross, a little cynical, a little stupid. A little of a lot meant the show was a little too widely spread.
It was also on the tail end of the '90s cartoon trend, so if you'd seen Rocko's Modern Life, or Aah! Real Monsters, or Cow and Chicken, CatDog didn't offer much new. "Not bad" isn't really a good thing to be if you want to be remembered.

For the record, I actually enjoyed Angry Beavers. It's not my favourite cartoon of all time, or even in my top 20, but it was still a pretty good show, even if you could see the seams of where they didn't get to completely finish a fair few of the episodes.
The entire show was about watching the main characters lose all the time. Top that off with lazy art, horrid voice acting, and obnoxious characters it's a wonder it got funding in the first place. Assy McGee had more artistic integrity then that piece of shit.

Because it works off the assumption that everyone being an asshole is funny because saying mean things is funny. Except its not. When everyones an asshole all the time you expect them to act like assholes so every time they use acting like an asshole as a joke it just falls flat.
The diffrence between catdog and somthing like EEE is the characters have actual positive and negitive traits that play off each other and give them actual character. Its funny to see how the characters react in various extreme cirumstances because they actually react a bit differently depending on who or what they're interacting with.
tldr good comedy sets up humor with conflict while catdog treats conflict as humor.

I have a giant woman fetish because I lost a mother when I was an infant, and feel the need to be overburded with love and support.
The offshoot of the nylon fetish is because that is what she wore most of the time, and what I had my view of most of the time.
Sounds disgusting and weird, however that is what a fetish is, at least through a Classical viewpoint.
It had moments of brilliance, like the monster truck and prohibition episodes, but they were spread so thin that it really wasn't worth watching the rest of the show to get to them.
It also suffered heavily by coming out too late. The Ren and Stimpy template was so worn-out at that point that most people just didn't want to watch it anymore. Coupled with an almost unanimously awful supporting cast, the show just didn't have much going for it. In fact probably the biggest disconnect between this show and EEnE, which a few people in this thread have already drawn comparisons to, is that the Eds often deserved what came to them and the other kids would often get their own comeuppance. In CatDog, 9 out of 10 times they would just get shat on for nothing while the antagonists would get off scotch-free.

This. You can actually make a show where the majority (or entirety) of the cast is made up of assholes, but "everyone acts like a dick to everyone else" can't be the only joke. Hell, look at Archer.
You can also have a show where the main characters lose pretty much constantly. As many have pointed out, look at Ed, Edd, n Eddy.
Compare Dog and Ed. Both are generally well-meaning but brain-dead-stupid, and their stupidity can cause problems, but Ed comes off way better because he's not constantly hurting his friends through an entire episode for no good reason. It helps that when he screws up, he often suffers as much abuse as everyone else. Dog often seemed to get off better, if only through most of the episode, but it felt like we were supposed to think that was fine because Cat wanted to do something responsible, quiet, and/or boring or he was a little snippy about it.
Though it has been a very, very long time since I saw it, so maybe my memories have been a little warped. I know I really did not like it back in the day.

I just got tired of hearing Jim Cumming's after a while. Winslow was stupid. It was just stupid, and the worst part was because of it's time slot, usually late afternoon on weekends, there wasn't shit else on.
This is one of those cartoons I remember watching, maybe finding funny once or twice, but if someone shits on it I can't really make the effort to defend it. I have a lot of cartoons like that.

Thing about EE&E as well is they're kids. Them acting stupid is kind of expected. Catdog are adults (well as adult as you can be as main protagonists of a children's show) so their stupidity is less forgivable.

Winslow is honestly an amazing character.
In a cast of horrifically mean spirited and unlikable characters, he manages to stand out not as a diamond in a pile of shit, but as the smelliest steaming log in the pile. His mere appearance is enough to inspire hate from even the most forgiving people.
It's seriously impressive.
