It's friday, lets have a shelf thread.
New stuff for this week: http://www.collectedcomicslibrary.com/collected-edition-release-schedule/
Wondering where people get their books?
try these sites: http://www.instocktrades.com/

my amazon order got to my parents place really fast, but I don't get em till xmas... noooooooooo
also picked up Cosmic Odyssey by Starlin and Mignola on wednesday at the LCS, havent heard anything about it, havent read any of it, just goin in blind.. how bad can it be its Mignola drawing superman and new gods!
Just arrived. One day I'll have them all...
>>77277166
COSMIC ODYSSEY IS UNDERRATED
Does anyone know if instocktrades does a Black Friday sale?
>>77277166
The prices of books have really gone up here baka even old shit
The only thing I got this week was Luthor by Azzarello
>>77277451
Yup, its a long way off from IST's 52%..
I'm hoping its only temporary but the way the economy is going makes that doubtful
I got these to add to...
...this shelf with this month's pocket change I've collected.
>>77277666
r u a grill
>>77277336
They had a 45% site wide sale the last two years iirc
>>77277206
You, I like you
>>77277856
No. I'm obviously Satan. You'd know that if you checked em. But, no, not a grill. Also, out of everything that come in October's villains box, this is the only thing that I really liked.
>>77276930
Should I buy Alec?
sealed, first print, mint condition
>>77278219
Yeah especially if you like from hell.
After owning all the deluxe editions of Y the Last Man I've finally reached volume 4!
Southern Bastards is fucking awesome.
I'm excited for the Rat Queens hardcover
Coming in I've got
>Batman and the Monster Men
>Batman Battle for the cowl
I was gonna buy a cheap, good copy of the killing joke, but I din't have enough.
Got this in the mail, reading through Batman Adventures Vol 3 at the moment.
anyone with Stray Bullets Uber Alles omnibus?
how's the binding? is it better to buy tpbs?
>>77279663
It IS a TPB. It's like a big phonebook. I'm buying the smaller TPBs as they're coming out and I've been very pleased.
>>77276930
>>77276938
>>77276944
I like your taste, specifically Allred and Lemire, and Prophet.
House sitting this weekend and this is the stack I brought with me.
>Crisis DLX HC
This is the best DC/Vertigo Deluxe Ed I've ever bought. The pages are heavy matte-finish pages; it looks fucking gorgeous. VERY worthwhile upgrade from the run-of-the-mill TPB I've had for years.
>>77280516
>>77279663
>Stray Bullets
That was me. Should have used one post for all of this. The trades are nice. Half gloss/matte finish on the cover. ~250 pages a piece. Easier to read and store than the Uber Alles Edition.
>Deadpool MAX
What's the consensus on this run? Obviously I'm a Lapham fan, and I love Kyle Baker as well. This HC collects both volumes and I'm about halfway through it and it's a fine enough Deadpool for my taste.
>>77280810
>COIE deluxe
Shit, I forgot they reprinted that. I need it.
>>77277634
nice picks
>>77276930
I( have too many comics and can't be assed to photograph them, that's what $20 a week for six years does I guess.
Here's something from ComicKaze or however you spell it.
>>77278219
Alec, From Hell, and Bacchus are essential Campbell.
>>77281926
Thanks, I saw All Star Superman and instantly snatched it up. The kid working behind the counter was an obvious Batfag who scoffed at my picks and told me that they just got in the collection of Death of the Family and that I should save my money and buy that. I told him Superman was better to read about, watched him almost shit himself, paid and walked on out.

>>77284415
>>77284906
theres 2 lcs's downtown here inexplicably almost right next to each other and they still each do well.... but out of both stores theres only one guy like that, its so fun to fuck with him. i asked for bags and boards one day and he laughed and was like "why? theyre not going to be worth anything"....I didnt have the heart to tell him the other shop gives them out for free... what a shmuck
>>77284415
I feel you, I'm more of a supermanfag myself
>>77285520
>he laughed and was like "why? theyre not going to be worth anything"
Lol, I've made good money off selling fairly new books
floppies
Comic Kingdom is going out of business in Sydney, so I decided to check out their 40% off everything sale.
Grabbed Hellblazer volume 9, Fables Volume 10, and the Atom Eve statue. I also just wanted the $1 sinestro corps ring but since I already spent >$50 the guy threw in all rings pictured for free.
Also grabbed the last two Azzarello wondy volumes and first two Simonson Thor volumes from Kinokuniya.
Today was a good day.
>>77285411
I have the first one, there's a little bit especially on double page spreads but nothing unreadable
>>77285835
>Grumpy cat variant
Why?
>>77285994
I get that it's just marketing...... But why use Grumpy cat for Sinestro? Why not the obvious Dex-Starr? Grumpy is closer to anger than fear...i don't know when that variant was printed. i assume there was no red lantern corps on-going
>>77286059
Because DC killed Dex Starr off, twice, in the new 52.
>>77286104
I doubt the marketing team who chose to use Grumpy Cat care which characters are and aren't alive.
>>77285994
I thought it wascute
>>77286059
>But why use Grumpy cat for Sinestro
This October's variant theme was Halloween/monsters and I'm 99% sure Kerschl submitted the grumpy cat Sinestro as a joke and it got approved
and yeah Red Lanterns ended a while ago
>>77285838
I'm not usually one for gimmick variants but Grumpy Cat Sinestro is hilarious.
>>77287755

Eh. I dunno. I want to take a break from getting comics for a while.>great Kirby shit will never be reprintedAt least my library has all of the Fourth World Omni volumes.
>>77283505
Fucking love that issue.
>>77285411
Not so bad. The second volume is much better quality.
Any hope for an Inferno re-print from Marvel? Or am I going to have to wait for vol. X omnibus of Claremont's run? lol
I see that Gambit's first ongoing is getting collected finally, took'em long enough.
>>77276930
wondering why you only have vol 6 of hellboy library edition. any particular reason?
My Lady Death kickstarter parcel arrived on Thursday, I now add Chaos Rules and Damnation Game to my Lady Death collection, plus the Naughty pin up book.
Looking at a 1997 copy of Lady Death vs. Purgatori on ebay, it's even signed by Steven Hughes, got out bid but there's still a week left on the auction, so I'm going to let it cool off and hope for a last minute snipe on the sucker. This is going to be the most pricey addition to my Chaos! collection if I win, postage alone is $40 Australian, and the bid's at almost 30.
>>77290523
Ahh fuck, I forgot to adjust size and resolution!
>>77288781
Jack Kirby Kamandi v 2 HC just got reprinted like this week.
>>77284415
>>77284906
You're the same as him, you just like the other underwear-on-the-outside character.
A shame he wasn't pushing Morrison Bat-Sue, wonder what would be your reaction then.
What are some good horror comics, I love nailbiter
>>77284415
Total Batfag here, anyone who pushes you away from All Star Superman (Especially in favor of Death of the Family) is an idiot who should be ignored and/or publicly shamed.

There's quite a few good horror books going on right now
Got some Mouse Guard HCs recently and before that I got some omnis from B&N.
Yes one of them did have some slight damage to one of the corners for those that decry that store but the other two were excellent.
I know there was a thread on it earlier (don't see it in the catalog now) but was there any new on Abbadon printing up his Kill Six Biilion Demons work?
Jesus, OP, we own like 80% of the same books.
>>77288781

Lucky fucker, I just hope Simmon's New Gods doesn't go out of print soon.
>>77292713
>>77292159
Rumble is good too, not quite sure if I'd call it horror though, does have some horror elements.
>>77285838
Kingdom is the grubbier one that's up a flight of stairs, right? I remember getting a few back issues of 52 when I was living there back in 2012. Shame it's closing.
Does IST ever do a 45% on IDW books? I've seen it on DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, and Image in the past few months but no IDW.
Just ordered Understanding Comics. I heard it's a really good guide to comics. What do you guys think of it?

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Prequel #1

Universal War One Collected Edition

Graveyard of Empires

I was surprised they don't do that in Russia. I was sure they were going to use movie posters for Age of Ultron translation. Shit book, but at least they released it properlywithout fucking tie-ins, though.

I'm pretty sure I saw Inferno in solicits for next march or april or something
>>77297150

>>77293219

They do it in the US/Canada too. GOTG's first OHC or trade was the movie poster IIRC

My bad. I meant my local library, not my 'personal library'. I wish I personally owned them. I'm tempted to steal them from the library, but that's an asshole move, depriving the public of the Fourth World saga. This same library has the first two volumes of the Drake Doom Patrol Archive Edition, and that started me on collecting those for myself.
Which reminds me, my old college library had all the volumes of the Nausicaa manga. So glad i got to read that.

We finally arrived in Alaska two days ago and only just got our car yesterday, so we haven't gotten to scope out the book/comic shop scene here yet. However, these were my last purchases from Super-Fly Comics in Ohio before we moved. I love that Grayson/Creature variant.
>>77343015

Ultimately it comes down to 1. your taste, and 2. it's function.
If its just going to sit on your desk or shelf and collect dust, just pick whichever you like the look of. its gonna sit there so what else matters?
If you plan on taking photos of it, again decide which "Joker" you like the look of and buy whichever has the most articulation (just look at the joints. ball joints will move more than just cut joints).
If you really don't care about what Joker you want but still want photos, then pick whichever has the most accessories.
Personally, I'd go Figuarts because take photos often and it has a lot of articulation and accessories. But not everyone likes Injustice so...Pic semi-related. I don't own a joker figure; but an example of one of my photos

Our shelves look exactly the same, if we switched out some floppies for singles (can't stand the digital coloring of bronze age comics on glossy paper). Bravo though.
I'm running out of space.

I'll never understand people who develop "omg my favvvv brand or faaav publisher, lyke n subscrib :^) DC 5lyfe"
There is lots of good music, movies, ect ect ect in this world. Why lock yourself into a single brand? It's beyond retarded.
