Tonight's episode: Out of Time
>TIME RUNS OUT FOR CENTRAL CITY - Mark Mardon aka The Weather Wizard (guest star Liam McIntyre) appears in Central City intent on avenging his brother Clyde's death, and sets his sights on Joe (Jesse L. Martin), who shot Clyde. When Mardon attacks Joe and Barry (Grant Gustin), Barry is able to super-speed them to safety but Mardon gets away. Barry warns Joe not to go after a meta-human alone but Joe doesn't listen and ends up in grave danger. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) looks into the night the team captured the Reverse Flash and realizes something doesn't add up and begins to wonder whether Joe was right about Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Barry and Linda (guest star Malese Jow) end up on an awkward double date with Eddie (Rick Cosnett) and Iris (Candice Patton). Liam was a lot better in many ways acting as Spartacus, but that may be due to the fact we got to see Liam act in more situations surrounding the war than what we say with Andy just being a gladiator. What I really enjoyed about Liam, that I didn't see in Andy, was the mystic. Liam's very hushed tone along with the bite in his voice he can make when he's very clearly not amused, made him seem like he was more than just a man. He really acted like a deity
I can hear glimpses of that in him doing Weather Wizard, which is interesting because that character thinks he is an actual God

Blood and Sand set him up as just a man trying survive after being robbed of everything, and having to own being a gladiator/warrior to do. It was endearing and made his cause genuine. Flash is just HYPE after HYPE after HYPE after HYPE. There's some good scenes here and there (like Barry/Henry "if my son WERE the flash" or Cisco/Eobard "think of you like a son") but a vast majority of it is mediocre that you guys ramp up because it's new and HYPE. I guarantee you when the season if finished and you go back and rewatch it all you'll have a very diminished view of the show because outside of the HYPE moments it's pretty shallow. The show lives off it's HYPE and easter eggs, not the quality of the show itself.
Arrow on the other hand is about substance. Say what you will about S3 being bad (which it isn't, it's above S1 and slightly under S2 in terms of quality) but the show doesn't rely on HYPE after HYPE after HYPE, blowing it's proverbial load in it's first season like the Flash is.
Seriously, think about it. What's left to do in Flash that's going to be new and HYPE? They've introduced Zoom, they've had that whole plotline going all year, they just did the reveal of Eobard and Eddie, you already have Grodd, you have Captain Cold, you have time travel, you have speedforce. They're taking all the A+ material from 70+ years of Flash and putting it all in the first season. By all accounts, you guys will HATE Season 2 simply because it's not full of hype after hype after hype moments like S1 has been.

There are two things that make the The Flash so great right now. One, it really benefits by being in it's first season. They generate a lot of speed here by introducing a lot of characters and slowly revealing big chunks of certain big characters every episodes. They can do a lot and still tell a cohesive story without it being too much. Two, the show is about the Flash. Where the two shows differ is that Arrow started off and is pretty much still running on the Smallville formula of this being a general adaption show of DC mythology, with Oliver Queen being the anchor. The world is being created through Oliver's journey of becoming the Green Arrow. The Flash, is just the Flash. It's totally unencumbered and it lets you really focus
I wouldn't compare the two shows just yet. I want to see how the Flash can keep momentum over 3 or 4 seasons and see how well the writers can deal with the consequences of everything introduced in the first season.

And unfortunatly 90% of it is being erased continuity wise thanks to time travel. There will be little to no lasting ramifications of anything that happened in this episode other than Barry time traveling.
Cisco won't remember, he won't go looking into the mystery because Barry won't have the talk with him and Caitlyn, Joe won't go through what he went through because Barry will stop Weather Wizard when he goes to the precinct and this will stop Singh from being hurt. Iris won't find out about Barry, she won't confess her love for him, and they're going to go back to a will-they-won't-they thing again, with the only difference being Eddie see's something or notices something and gets pissed about it.

I watched every single episode of Smallville as it aired. The difference between Flash and Smallville is Smallville was 95% teenage drama bullshit, all the way up through season 10, with 5% powers / plot / story arc. Smallville was never this good because Smallville was for all intents and purposes a drama about some dude who just happened to be able to do some asspull with his powers for a minute or two every episode.

I think they're going with what Johns was originally setting up in Flash: Rebirth with Thawne. Thawne actually has a negatively charged speed force opposite of Barry and the other Flashes' positively charged speed force. He needs to either kill Barry to consume his speed force or push him harder to create an equal or opposite reaction in his negative speed force. Wells probably wants to do this so he has enough speed force energy to return to the future.

Based on the previews for next week, it seems future-Barry in this timeline replaces past-Barry and has all the memories of everything that has happened since the moment he was on his way to the morgue, and saw himself appear beside himself.
