How about a Disney Parks thread? I haven't seen one of these in awhile, and I was feeling nostalgic over memories of the parks recently.

Why is Walt Disney World so great?

So far I've been to Disneyland, Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland. I am hoping one day to check out Hong Kong Disneyland soon
>>
>>70344683
Disneyland is not located in Florida, therefore it is better due to the weather not being dog shit.
suck my dick, choke on it
>>
>>70345080
I've only ever gone in April, and the weather's been nice. I went last April and it was actually pretty cool out the first few days. Even then the highest it got the whole week was in the 80s.
>>
> tfw I live in orlando and have gone so many times I'm sick of it

weird to think about

Favorite park is Epcot but favorite ride is Splash Mountain. Restaurant is probably the Boma buffet at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Don't have a favorite character or favorite memory really.
>>
>>70345173

Good thing I'm going in April
>>
>>70345080

I went in November, the weather was lovely. A nice 25C every day.
>>
>>70345224
You're lucky. I'd love to be able to go to Disney once or twice a year.

But yeah, I can see how going so often would get boring. I think one of the reasons Disney is enjoyable is because most people don't get to go often.

Yeah. I'm glad I got to ride it one last time when I went last April. We almost missed it, too. It closed right after we got off.

The Frozen ride could be alright... but they're probably gonna shove LET IT GO in our face.

Easy to not have good memories when your early-stages-of-dementia grandmother does nothing but accuse your mom of driving the wrong way half the trip.

Has anyone used one of the bands? I'm curious if they really make the experience that much smoother, or, if you know what you're doing, you're better off on your own.

>>
>>70347708
Hmm, the belly dancer at World Showcase Moracco.
>>
>>70347630
I did on my trip last December. Pretty good experience, but nothing game-breaking. It does save you some time as it works as a ticket+room key+credit card,, particularly if you are on a dining plan.
>>
>>70347630
I used the cards. They worked just like the bands, but they were cards.
>>
>>70347089
Honestly I could care less. I never really cared about Maelstrom that much and I kinda knew that Disney would make something Frozen-related in the Norway pavilion before they announced it
>>
>>70347630
If you're just visiting the park for the day, you're better on your own. If you're visiting one of their resorts as a guest, you get one anyway. It's your hotel key and park tickets and other shit combined into one little band. I got one for free during my internship. I might wear it when I go to Disneyland and bang it on the normal turnstyles just to be cheeky.
>>
So apparently Hollywood Studios is going to get yet another rename sometime soon.
>>
>>70348200
Why? Hollywood Studios is a good name.
>>
I've never been. I'm planning to go with some friends some day. How much money should we save up and how much time should I plan off?
>>
>>70344148
I seriously want to go to one at least once!
>>
>no Frozen-themed park in Canada
>>
>>70348224
to be fair all of the studio portions of the park have been ripped out. Though I still think that the park will still retain the Hollywood theme
>>
>>70348200
rumor is Disney Hollywood Adventure. Would kinda match DCA, and they haven't been even pretended to be a studio in quite a while.
>>
>>70348290
That's what you get for unleashing Bieber.
>>
>>70348245
Other anons say it's a waste of money, but I found this guidebook to be a convenient source of info and tips. They update it every year.
>>
>>70348276
They're not that expensive if you go alone, or spend wisely.

I've been able to go three times in my life (all with family, though.)
>>
>>70348245
4-5 days are probably enough. Tickets for 4-5 days are like $330 per person, and a value resort is usually 120~ per night.
>>
I remember Disney was going to re-theme Rock N Roller Coaster but they scrapped it
>>
>>70348245
I typically take a week off (though you only need a minimum of 4 days to do all 4 parks).

You can buy tickets for admission to all four parks. They're around $300-ish. Resorts and such are extra, and expensive, too. You'll also need money for food, souvenirs, etc.

Overall, I'd save around $2000-3000 dollars. With a bunch of friends/family pitching in, it's not that bad.

I live in Orlando and have an Annual Pass, I got as often as I can. It's really pleasant just being able to go for a couple hours and not feel like you have to spend the entire day their to get your money's worth. Staying just a bit also means I don't have to buy super expensive food. It's pretty nice.

The more I go, the more I appreciate Epcot, it's just so chill and relaxed. You can do a lot without waiting in lines.

Anyone else engraved in the walls at the Epcot entrance? The summer before my senior year I went with my friends parents took me and another friend back in 2003 and we are immortalized there. American Adventure doesn't have any singing animatronics. There's songs, but they're all video montages. Different tones too, American Adventure being "The History of the Country in less than 40 minutes", America Sings being more like "Country Bear Jamboree with multiple American musical genres".

Also, gonna fix your problem with the magic of YouTube.

I don't know what it's really called. My family always call it 'Cut Your Heart Out Cafe' because of an incident with my great aunt (RIP) on one of our trips. Too many, but here's a recent one. Went last January on the last day they had the Christmas decorations out. Me and a friend both went dressed as Spider-man, because he's our favorite extended Disney character. Had a great time, took alot of pics with folks, almost got kicked out because of it (worth it).
Anyways, we were in line for Buzz Lightyear, and these kids just lit up when they saw us. Jumping up and down, asking us tons of questions, etc. One kid would not let go of my hand. Their parents commented that they were amazed how open they were with us. Usually, they are very shy, reserved, and don't talk to anyone. Feels good to have that kind of impact, and its why I wear the suit.
Hey, Disney, now that Spidey is part of the MCU, you sound like you need a Spidey around. I work for churros and pretzels.

You know that little corridor of buildings between Grizzly Peak and Paradise Pier right by Mermaid? That's meant to be a bit of San Francisco. If you can add a stretch of San Fransokyo-ness that and the Pacific Wharf, might be able to do something BH6-y.

Only been to Disney parks like 3 times during various family vacations, live way up North so it's not easy/cheap to just go. The upside is that when we did go we went all out with staying at the resorts for like 8 days or something, it was great. Last time I was in Disney World was way back in 2001 and I had just gone through a big growth spurt. I remember Space Mountain being utterly terrifying because I couldn't quite fit my legs completely under the bar and there was no seatbelt. I felt like I was going to fly out at any moment. I'm sure it wasn't nearly as bad as I'm remembering.

Two of my favorite memories were both at the Tower of Terror though. The first time we ever went I was only like 8 and was terrified of heights. We went through the line and went up the first elevator where they put on a little show and were about to get into the car and I freaked out and couldn't get on. My mom was going to go with me back down the the exit but I told her I'd be fine and she should go. One of the staff running it took me to a normal elevator for staff and stayed in-character the entire way down. It was spooky as hell at the time but in hindsight was really cool.

Then a few years later I got over it and got on the ride and it broke down right before it was supposed to do the drop. They had to turn all the lights on and escort us to service exits and see all the mirrors and tracks that the cars run along. It was really cool to see the innards of the ride like that.

I didn't actually have any trouble getting in there. I know someone who knew someone who had a pass, so they let him use it.

Is it worth the $10k to get in? If you live in Anaheim and you make well over 100k a year, maybe, but otherwise probably not.

The food in there was delicious, though, if a bit too...old fashioned and expensive.

If you get invited, go. Otherwise, probably not worth it.

>Going to Disney World next week
So I just found out about the Easter Egg thingy going on at Disney World. Can someone explain to me what this thing is about and how it works?
>>
>>70373023
I disagree. Epcot still feels futuristic to me, and that's why I love it. Them explaining how to grow stuff via hydroponics and the advances they're making in the agriculture field, the new Test Track subtly teaching kids about aerodynamics and future car design while they build their cars in the queue, at least one of the two innovations buildings always have a new interactive displays explaining recent technology. And the Flower and Garden Festival last year explained how they transplanted plants and discussed the cool sensor they have to water the plants.

It doesn't feel like the "In the year 2100 we will all have flying cars" feel, but it still is futuristic. I prefer this version much more.

So, a few changes have happened in the park.

The next few months will be double parades for the festival of fantasy.

The dole whip stand has been switched with the terrace and the terrace has been switched with the dole whip stand.

The new viewing areas make the fire work show absolutely incredible.

And shit's getting hot as balls.

This concludes you're Disney world update.

I've never been to disneyland. Growing up with wdw being an 8 hour drive away doesn't really make me want to get on a plane for dland especially when it doesn't have as much of a "disney bubble" feeling like world does.

I might be incredibly biased because my mum was at wdw opening day.

No harm in a little bias in this case. I'm pretty guilty of that myself, seeing I live about an hour or so away from DL myself. At the same time, though, I wouldn't mind seeing what the other parks have to offer. The closest I've been to another was when I passed over HK Disneyland while traveling to Malaysia a few years back.

You do have me curious, though. What do you mean by 'disney bubble'?
>>
>>70377898
If you go to disney world you literally can't see anything not disney until you get to the edge of the park where downtown disney is located.
Disneyland isn't like that.

I see what you mean. Honestly, I keep forgetting about everything that's surrounding the resort...and keeping it from expanding. For some reason, once I step foot onto Main Street, it just seems so out of mind.

I wish I could say the same for California Adventure, though. Seeing the Convention Center literally across the street from California Screamin' is a bit of a wake-up call.
>>
>>70378230
The only part of Disneyland that was originally supposed to be Disney-related was Fantasyland.
>>
>>70377953

The disparity of poverty and wealth of Anaheim around the hub of Disneyland is hilariously abrupt. Traveling north on Harbor or east on Ball past the main park unfolds into empty or abandoned businesses and a sharp decline in the quality of the care for the streets.

Katella is the only nicely maintained front and it's absolutely packed with restaurants and hotels. You can really feel the limited economy of space the resort has by how jammed together everything is.

It's really funny, my childhood memories regarding Disneyland was the excitement of seeing the lumber mill on Ball since that meant we were close to Disneyland. I can't imagine that 'Disney Bubble' of Florida but I guess it makes sense given there's more land there to create that atmosphere.

I went to my first Passholder event the beginning of this month. It was to celebrate so many years of Indiana Jones being open.
They had a slightly themed live band, a guy standing on a circus ball all night, and some Q&A thing I didn't go to.
It was fucking amazing. Even though the only lands open were Adventure, New Orleans Square, and Frontierland the place was practically empty. The only ride with anything that could even be considered a line was Indiana Jones.

Best thing though. I got on the very last Jungle Cruise boat. The guide had the boat up to full speed and never took a breath "there'sarefirstsignofdangernowovertherearesometigersthoseelephantshavetheirtrunkson"

Totally going next time they have another event.

This week we're going to give you a very special look at the early development of UNIVERSAL'S ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE park, back when it was still known as "PROJECT X".

Long before The Incredible Hulk coaster, a concept was developed for a SILVER SURFER COASTER, with some of its main features being a CHROME TRACK and PROJECTION DOME FINALE featuring a climactic showdown with Galactus!

I think a pin. Pay like five bucks for a map and stickers and check 'em off as you go.

The 80s were full of "This is Not For Kids" movies in the "Kids Movies" section of the video rental store. Darby O'Gill is straight up horror and we are all marked by that banshee scream.
I imagine one day that the ghost coach is going to roll up outside my door and the banshee is going to scream at me until I get on. Then I'll have to listen to some smug-as-shit Leprechaun talk for the entire ride, and maybe, who knows - he'll kick my ass out for a laugh.
