Not liking the art style, but Dredd is Dredd no matter what.
I read this run. As a 2000ad Judge Dredd reader I thought it was an entertaining diversion with a lot of fish-out-of-water humour, but it felt an issue too long.
I also thought the people looked too cartoony, but I can see how this is done by design to emphasise MC2's phony, smiley-faced vibe, where officially issued guns have teddybears on them. The buildings, structures and vehicles are tremendously detailed and interesting to look at, though.
I'd still recommend it to Dredd fans looking for something different - Dredd is still Dredd-like, but the setting is a new twist. It's by far the most interesting IDW Dredd comic I've read so far.

It's actually from earlier this year. Five-issue mini. As for Dredd, it's actually been in color for a nice couple of decades now, and if you're looking for cool modern artstyles, Kev Walker, Henry Flint and Carl Critchlow have all done splendid work on the strip.

The Sensitive Klegg arc happened in issues 1888-1889 of 2000AD. For more background, read "The Day The Law Died", which introduced the Klegg, and "Trifecta", which introduced Sensitive Klegg. That said, Trifecta can be a bit weird if you read it outta the blue, and I'd strongly recommend reading at least "Day of Chaos" before it.

The first bit of the movie up until Dredd removes his helmet is really good, Schneider and silly standing around shouting aside. Most of it is design work, although I do feel like the flying cars and bikes deprived Mega-City of its "thousands of highways going nowhere" look, which is very pivotal to the design.
The problems with Sly's Dredd start, for me, once the plot kicks in. Slowly, surely, the movie starts lodging itself up its own ass, becomes too serious for its own good, and by the end is completely unrecognizable as a Dredd movie, turning itself into a generic sci-fi action film. Even the visuals, which by then had been one of the saving graces of the movie, are all but gone of the third act save for Hammerstein.

These ones look like they're out of order, more geared towards new fans, and each book will probably be way smaller than the Case Files. If you can get them at a good price and if you're more about having ALL OF DREDD I'd stick with the files, but this collection could be a good idea if you're looking for hardcovers of specific arcs.

My library was great for Dredd - I got through Necropolis, Satan's Island, the Henry Flint collection, several of the PJ Maybe stories, Childhood's End (third arc I read, so I missed a lot of the significance) America (possibly my all time favourite!), and of course Judgement in Gotham.
