Anyone else noticed a sudden rush of 3D model-looking comics in the past five years? The new people and the older artists become one and the same - the same faces, same expressions, same angles, same body types, zero weight in movements, angular overdetailed backgrounds.

I've also seen that stuff in quite a lot of latest DC, Marvel and Image previews. I get why they keep their jobs, but why is nobody calling em out? Will future generations look at these guys' art the same way we look at 90s stuff? Some of them actually don't even know how to draw properly, let alone compose a scene or direct some action.

Why is animation so damn inspiring? It's like, shit, at times I don't even realize I'm looking at cartoons, the performances are just so seamless. A short little pencil test is more impressive to me than something like Space Odyssey or Hugo. Why would I rather stare at sketchy pencil work or flat colors than reality?
I mean fuck, look at this. It's a drawing but my brain is saying, "nope, that's a dog". Look how goddamn believable it is.
Damn, look at this moving illustration. Gorgeous.
Look how much fun it is to be a cartoon character. Constantly stretching and squashing, this shit is more fun to look at than some actor's Oscar moment.

I'm gay and totally attracted to Chris Evans, but this shit with trying to convert long standing characters like this needs to stop.
I don't give a shit what sexual orientation a character is unless they are trying to make that the whole point of their character, the same way I don't care if my neighbor is in to kinky bdsm or whatever unless they are hanging it in my face.
This wouldn't be a win for gay people, it just helps drive the otherness of them, and doesn't build good will.

no. I thought it was 'quirky' for its own sake and lacked a genuine charm that comes from characters who feel like they were inspired by real people.
I enjoyed it for what it was. Didn't like every episode, but a lot of them still stick with me. Punsy McKale and the WEST one come to mind.
