I really love the designs of inazuma eleven (go especially) but is the anime actually worth watching? I'm kinda intimidated by how many episodes there are.

It's a fun ride. If you can get in the mindset of ignoring how stupid everything is, it's charming. Though you'll mostly be going back to it for the cute characters.

I don't necessarily mind stupid. Stupid can itself be a pretty great drawing force for me. Do I need to watch the original before starting on Go? Or does it not matter?

The stupid can definitely be the show's biggest charm. Prepare for laughs.
Go has some returning characters from the original, but they're only side characters and for the most part, the stories and characters are different. If you just want to see the Go characters, then you can probably just jump straight to Go without a problem.

Then I think I'll do that, and maybe go to the original later on. Definitely not going to download the show though, I'll have to stream it. No way am I downloading like 50+ episodes of a single show to clog up my harddrive.
