I actually have spent good time growing my own gourmet mushrooms, and mycology is a totally separate beast from normal produce cultivation.
Now a lot of mushrooms are fruited in a substrate of coir which is a dehydrated (then rehydrated before use in substrate) and pasteurized manure.
So yes! You should clean your mushrooms, that "dirt" you typically see is a manure based substrate. Though you should not wash them like a normal piece of produce.
Because fungi compete on a very microbial scale, their tendencies for pathogens is low (except for contaminated cultures, but they typically never fruit, and any reputable company or mycologist would discard of them long before they ever even got to fruiting conditions). That being said, due to the substrate they grown on they are prone to physical contamination.
