Let's talk real co/ck/tails.
Gin flip?
>>7842398
I prefer my flips to be of the Last Word variety (if I'm going Gin) or Mescal based.

Totally different drink - for one thing there's no egg in a Last Word.
My take on a gin and tonic
Tanqueray Rangpur, Bitter Lemon Fever Tree Tonic, and a dash of Rose's Premium sweetened Lime
Syrup
Absolutely fucking delicious. Even people who normally hate gin love this

Fuck off, the only way to enjoy liquor is straight
I love me a Whiskey Sour when a barman does it, but when I make it at home, even with the exact same whiskey, it just doesn't taste the same, and I don't get why.
In the bar, it tastes perfectly sour, the whiskey's strong taste is mitigated by the lemon, and the sugar stops it from being undrinkable.
But when I make it at home the whiskey is the only dominant taste, adding more lemon doesn't solve the issue, and when it does there's just too much. So I add sugar. But it doesn't properly meld with the rest no matter how much I shake.
It's a retard-proof 3-ingredient drink, and yet I still can't make a decent one. I just wish I understood why.

Fuck, only realised now it was supposed to be about cocktail glass only.
I like my Martini 90% gin and 10% white vermouth

A Last Word FLIP by definition has egg in it.
That's the key thing I'm getting at: I like my flips of the last word variety or with Mescal.

I just mix gin and tonic with a little ice and it keeps me going on these hellish summer days.

It prolly because it isnt shaken as well as the bartender. If done right it introduces air in the drink, making the alcohol taste milder and melding the flavours together. The ice matters too, if it has too much bubbles in it, it chips easy and it dilutes your drink.

Could also be sour mix - lots of bars make their own or don't use it.

most people aren't so pretentious to read "cocktail" to mean something more specific than "mixed drink"
