Lust thread?
What kitchen tools are you currently lusting after/saving for?
I'd like a good dutch oven, one of these or maybe an enameled cast iron? No idea yet. Also looking for a good set of steak knives.
Viking kitchen
bumping for potential to be a nice friendly thread with some recommendations with advice
>>7838923
i want one of these, would make lots more from scratch if i had one
i need some good knives and a very wide pot for casseroles
A kitchen with Windows and counter space
>>7838923
get a le creuset dutch oven, it's really nice and looks good in the kitchen
I want this, its pretty and huge.
also a stand mixer.
other than that I'm happy with my kit.
>>7839529
How much is it and more importantly what is it
>>7839507
Almost 300 on Amazon
Nope.avi
>>7839560
my neighbours have the biggest one, it llooks dank af
they cost a lot, but they're worth it. comes with a lifetime guarantee..so if your handle breaks you can get a new one
>>7839501
I know this feel, Anon. Our apartment kitchen has a single workspace, no windows, and an old shitty oven.
Otherwise, I'd kind of like to get a wok and learn how to do stir fry stuff.
>>7839534
its a 42x28x9cm baking dish
I want it only for lasagna
>Lusting
Lust is one of the seven deadly sins, child. You should know better than to do that.
>>7839719
so is gluttony
Went with a Lodge cast iron dutch oven, been happy with it. Much cheaper than the enameled ones.
Currently want a food saver, and possibly a sous vide machine later.
>>7839733
have a food saver. I don't use it that often but every once in a while I have a perfect use for it.
>>7839732
>Implying I'm fat.
>>7839462
This, a food processor and a George Foreman grill.
>>7839875
why george foreman grill?
family had one like 10 years ago and it was just a pan for burgers basically. why not just use like...a pan
>>7839892
good for hotdogs/sausages of various kinds
>>7839899
as opposed to pans or a grill outside?
genuinely curious
>>7838923
Lusting after a 3.7mm+ 15"+ tinned copper saute pan, preferably with some history
I've already got more copper than I need, but it's still on my mind
>>7840016
>tin
Better not be going over 450°F with that
>>7838923
I need a stainless pot. One of these days gonna get my ass to the thrift store and find a nice old heavy one.
Also an engage for kimchi purposes. They have a bunch at the Asian market but I don't feel like spending the money at this time lol.
>>7840016
Why do you need one so large? I have a 3.8 mm 12" sauté and its capacity is more than enough for almost any sautéing task I do.
>>7838923
Le crust porn
Not exactly a kitchen tool, but id love a large outdoor wok
>>7840203
Why not get one then? Surely you can find one for under $40
>>7840203
i'm also needing one of these, having an electric stovetop inside sucks
>>7840214
I live in an apartment complex that doesn't allow outdoor grills sadly.
Why do cooking utensils have to be so expensive ;_;
An immersion circulator
So expensive
>>7840254
because we dont actually need them
>>7840265
My girlfriend bought one so I have access to one, but I researched the water cooler method before that and supposedly works real well with only about 1° drop per hour.
>>7840268
No one sells coolers here and if they do its just a cheap plastic tub to put ice in
A complete set of Shun knives. $1,800 for the 21 piece set.
>>7840319
21 piece sets are too many knives imo
Even if 8 of the 21 are steak knives and one would be the steel, so that's 12 knives which is way too many even if they were free
>>7840319
man you only really need like 5 really good knives. those big sets are just dick waving. who the fuck needs a demascus steel steak knife? All you need is a 8-10 inch chefs knife, a Nakiri, a pairing knife a boning knife and a slicer. Boom. Literally ever cut you could possibly need to make is there.
>>7840356
Nakiri is not necessary if you own a chefs knife. Also, I personally make extensive use of my meat cleaver for cutting through bones for stock, as well as a serrated bread knife.
>>7840392
Not trying to bully friend-o
I hope you can get it some day :)
>>7840543
I'm not your friend-o, buddeh
Should arrive Tuesday
>>7840603
what's the first thing you're gonna do with it?
>>7839462
Same. I have a stand mixer that's about 10 years old and the motor is making all sorts of funny noises. A new Kitchenaid is ~$750 AUD in Australia unfortunately.
I'd love a gas connection to my house, but the gas company wants $10,000 to connect it to my area.
>>7840634
looks like its time to start saving my dude
>>7840203
My camp chef is arriving tomorrow and I cannot wait to cook with my wok. I didn't want to stink up my new home and get oil stains on the wall.
Forgot to post pic, but finally saved to buy this baby. Since I bought a new home all our friends want to eat at our place so we'll be cooking in the yard with this. Can't wait.
>>7840616
Probably make food in it.
>>7839507
literally the best
also, dutch oven means when you fart in the bed and lock-in the smell
>>7842111
I think I read somewhere that staub actually hs better performance in terms of even heat and the durability of the enamel. Also it has a self basting lid which is nice.
>>7839892
Can never manage to cook burgers properly in a ban. Outside always gets tough before the middle is cooked. With a grill, just set a timer, and leave it
Yes, I'm retarded with cooking
What I really want is pic related. 3qt all clad saucier. It seems like something that would get a shitload of use because it can do most things. I just can't pull the trigger at almost 200 bucks, but I probably eventually will.
>>7839462
>tilting head
Get the one that has the magnetic arms and does not tilt back. They last longer and are more powerful
>>7842144
The only down with Staub is the enamel is black. Not a huge deal but I do prefer the cream color of Le Creuset
>>7842203
Isn't black preferable for its radiative properties?
>>7839507
No idea what I'd even do with one
>>7842306
Indeed it is. but some people rank looks above performance.
>>7840648
Most homeowners think that, it's rarely true.
A good knife. I don't have the cash to buy one.
>>7840387
theres a ton of things that you do around the house that a nakiri makes easier.
>>7839507
Implying le crewsay is not a meme
my mom's been looking for a sort of spatula/scraper that goes on the stove
what sort of (mostly) flat square 'pan' goes on the stove and doubles as a spatula/scraper?
I need a name for it at least.
>>7842779
t. weeb lord supreme
>>7843353
a shovel
what your mother wants is a shovel
>>7842203
I've got a cheap stainless All Clad 3 qt saucier. Definitely worth having, but not a $200 model.
>>7842203
I'm looking to get one of these as well. tired of my really old beat up ones. they're shaped all fucking weird, man.
>>7844003
Don't we all?
