You know how everyone says French cooking is so great, and then you think of French things and all you can come up with is cheese and escargot?
Everything simple and great that you take for granted in modern cooking is actually French, like the pot roast. THAT'S why French cooking is the best.

Sear a beef rump roast then chuck it in my slow cooker with some beef stock, potatoes, onions, carrots and a packet of french onion soup mix and a couple bay leaves, then let it cook for 6-8 hours low and slow.

I'm prepping this for tomorrow morning and in to the crock it goes...I don't add any stock though, the meat release enough juices to bathe everything in beefy goodness.

No mate. A pot roast is just stewed meat.
Although we used to stew meats in a pot, like every other culture on the planet, our sunday roast is exactly that - Roast!
It's why the French call us 'Rosbifs' . . .because that's how we preferred our beef.
