Vanilla bean paste is probably the best way to impart vanilla flavor though, aside from actual vanilla beans of course.

Baking WHAT, nigger? Vanilla isn't something inherent to baking, but it might be called for in some desserts and stuff. If the recipe says to use it, use it. If not, don't.
