Yes. Salad, mayo, none of that crap belongs on a burger.
Meat, bread. That's a burger. You can add cheese and bacon if you want. BBQ pulled pork gets an honorary mention because it's fucking delicious, though. Serve the rest on the side.

They gotta tone down on the cheese too. There's no reason to put four slices of American (fucking disgusting) cheese on a double cheeseburger. One slice is fucking plenty. One slice is almost too much. If burger joints used, you know, real cheese, then two slices would be fine, maybe three if you're feelin' fat, but come on.

Lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and mayo all belong on a burger.

Even a little kid will add ketchup to a plain burger. Meat and bread with nothing else on it is basically dog food.
>>
I don't care what's on it so long as I can fit it comfortably in my mouth. Things like >>7584361 or >>7584523 trigger me.

Plain hamburgers (without any toppings at all) are actually quite common among kids. You'll see when you get one.
>>
>>7584616
>Lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and mayo all belong on a burger

I agree.
>>
>>7584640

The mayo can't be just mayo. It has to be mixed with something else.

The place up the block does like a garlic mayo aioli or something and it works really well on the burger
>>
>>7584628
Boulud's foie gras stuffed bistro burger is pretty extreme, though reports are that it's delicious. I can't bring myself to pay $35 for a burger, even if with appetizers it's big enough to be lunch for two.
>>
>>7584402
>Meat, bread. That's a burger
That's a sandwich. A Hamburger is a sandwich made with a ground beef steak or patty. Certain sandwiches have condiments and toppings predetermined by the name and type of sandwich: e.g. Reuben. Other sandwiches, such as the Hamburger, have common or "traditional" condiments and toppings which people may or may not choose to eat--as well as others they may choose to try.

You choose to eat a plain Hamburger sandwich. Positively thrilling information.

>>
In my opinion yes. I've tried the burger that's shown in this video and it was delicious. All it had was beef, onion, cheese, onions, tomatoes and lettuce. But they were all top quality. As with all foods, if your ingredients are top notch, you don't need thousands of them.

>>
>>7584402
Look I've had burgers (usually in barbecues and camping trips) that had just cooked onions and some burger sauce. That's what I'd consider the bare minimum but it's definitely acceptable to call it a burger if it has salad and even cheese in it.

Yes, burgers are a meme food now. But the main problem isn't as much too many ingredients as it is them being stuffed too big to be able to eat practically without having to compress the shit out of it first.

A quality burger, a slice of smoked cheese melted over it, ketchup over that in the shape of a pentagram, then some crispy fried onions or gherkins. Now that's a nice burger. If you want your burger to be so fucking massive, have 2 of them.

i think you'd be surprised if you actually had this burger in front of you by how small it is. most of the excess height comes from shredded salad which compresses down very easily.

i always find it funny how vociferous you guys are about tall burgers. it's not like this one has a crazy amount of stuff like onion rings and shit in it. it's just relatively narrow.

I literally can't imagine a single burger that would be worth $11.

I mean, I imagine it'd be a good burger, but I feel like there's a point where the quality of the burger plateaus in regards to its price, and you're better off just using the meat for something else.

I mean, it's just a burger.

>What's the matter with a little variety ?
Nothing wrong with a little. Asiago or Swiss cheese instead of cheddar, maple bacon or chorizo instead of regular bacon, kalamata olives instead of pickles, no issue there. However, most
>signature burger?
seem to overdo it, by making it into a foie gras-stuffed grass fed lamb burger with feta cheese, sriracha mayo, wild mustard greens, thinly sliced heirloom carrots, served on a lightly toasted brioche bun. Sure, every ingredient can be tasty and high quality, but that doesn't mean they go well together, or even should go together. It's just too complex for a humble dish such as a hamburger.
>>
>>7584446
Except a good burger, made with good ingredients and char grilled, in a good quality bun, with a few onions and a simple relish, is delicious and packed full of flavour.

When people start layering up shit on top you completely lose that flavour and replace it with things like tomato and cheese and bacon, at which point you may as well have a bacon, cheese & tomato grilled sandwich and be done with it.

serious question, is there any reason to have tomato in a burger?

I get that it looks nice with the lettuce, but I've never eaten a tomato in any kind of burger or sandwich that wasn't completely disgusting.
>>
>>7587878

if you like tomato
>>
>>7587878
That's probably a question of the specific tomatoes used, not the idea of using a tomato in a sandwich in general. Supermarket and food-wholesaler tomatoes are universally shit because they're bred to have a long shelf life and maximum durability for transportation, as opposed to flavor. Try getting a tomato from your grandma's garden, slice it, and stick that a in burger.
>>
>>7587878
>>7587888
90% of the time you faggots wont taste the difference. The actual reason tomato's tend to suck has nothing to do with the tomatos being of poor quality compared to grandma's garden (IE the tomatos aren't different). The reason is your grandma's tomatos are grown and picked in season while most people order shit with tomatos on them year round. Of course out of season fruit is going to not be as good. as someone who sliced tomatos for work, it's really really fucking obvious in the winter months that it affects the quality of your tomato, green house or not.

If you still don't like it in the summer and mid fall months you probably just don't like tomatos.
>>
>>7587912

He's obviously just a picky eater if he's saying shit like he's never enjoyed tomato on any kind of sandwich.

In season tomatoes are obviously better, and fresh off the vine are superior to ones picked before fully ripe and shipped, but I'll still eat and enjoy a hot house tomato on my burger when it's snowing outside.
