One of the things I miss about living near-campus is being able to feed a buzzed hunger safely by walking two blocks to dozens of late night eateries. A studio apartment was still cheap in that part of downtown, local places open all night, nationwide chains with walk-in until 11-12, a student ID the school never took away for student specials ($6 before tax large 1-topping Papa John's Pizza), 10% university employee discount at a lot of places, liquor store within one block, making decent money for the first time. Perfect deal for early-to-mid twenties.

I miss that too. I used to live in a metropolitan area of Denver and I could walk across a Wal-Mart parking lot to a liquor store and 3 or 4 fast food places....it was convenient. Plus I could be hammered drunk and have nothing to worry about it I was hungry or out of booze. Now I have to plan ahead because I live miles away from a fast food place or liquor store
