Just got a bottle of Makers Mark, never really been much a whiskey drinker. Am I in for a harsh nip or is it pretty decent?

Its ok, its popular so if im at a bar and my brand isnt carried its a safe choice and when im drunk already and its being mixed i stop caring. Kinda overhyped in some circles as a super good sipping whiskey

That rum is horrible.
Had some Templeton Rye the other night, was excellent sipping on it and a stout the other night.
Drank probably 4 ounces worth, knew the bartender and he was generous with it when he poured it neat.
By the time the beer was done I could sniff the rye and it smelled like one of the most wonderful vanilla-ish things one could imagine.
