Potato thread

Imagine you only have potatoes, salt and oil. What do you make? Be creative and cheap!

Yes I'm hungry and I only have potatoes
>>
>>7424174
Ask google.

They have all the answers.
>>
Cut them up, put some oil and salt on them and bake them in the oven
>>
>>7424174
Cut into wedges, sprinkle salt, dip in oil, 12-15 minutes at 375
>>
>>7424186
Yeah I've been doing that for the last 3 days. Kinda yucky now
>>
wegges roasted in the oven
whole backed potatoes
sliced and pan sauteed
deep fryed fries
mashed
hash brown
boiled in water
etc
>>
>>7424174
if you have flour make some potato gnocchi...
>>
>>7424190
This is not an alchemy board. If you don't want boiled, roasted or fried potatoes with salt you need to go buy more food.
>>
>>7424204
Psht, I thought you guys were like, the best of the best at cooking shit.

Seems I was wrong.
>>
>>7424205
Yeah, that's why we all hang out at 4chan, because we're the best.
>>
>>7424174
>cook potatoes for 10-15 minutes
>let cool
>deep fry
>salt (and season)
Dunno why this is so hard
>>
>>7424209
I had a hearty kek.
>>
If you're hungry enough those potatoes will be delicious regardless of how you cook them.
>>
Hash browns.
>>
>>7424264
This.
>>
Deep fry some salt. Sprinkle with potato shreds
>>
>>7424174
i literally ate only potatoes like 3 in the morning cuz i love them so much
>>
Potato pancakes
>>
Hashbrowns
>>
>>7424204
I dont know why this made me laugh so hard
>>
>>7424188
>>7424186
This but boil them first for about 6-10 mins.
Drain.
Oil and salt
Stick in oven.

This way your potatoes will no dry out while baking.

You are welcome
>>
>>7424174
Salt the oil and boil it to make oil soup.
Garnish with shaved potato flakes.
WA LA
>>
>>7424174

>>
>>7425285
Are you fucking retarded?
So many steps go into making potato crisps
>>
>>7425289
>cut thin as possible
>salt and fry

Also, they're called chips.
>>
prolly peel em.
salt em good. maybe papper

SunBaked taters.

>>
>>7425321
>prolly peel em.
the skin provides a lot of the dietary fiber, and if you're living on nothing but potatoes you'd do well to get more fiber.
>>
>>7425289
>Preheat the oven to 400°F. Slice the potatoes into a bowl and immediately toss them with the oil. Season lightly with salt and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven until golden brown — about 12-15 minutes. Season again lightly with salt and pepper when they come out of the oven. Transfer to a rack to cool for maximum crispness.

looks like you're the retarded one buddy.
>>
>>7425337
ackshually it's the rind right under the skin that holds those extra nutrients, not the skin itself.
>>
>>7425340
aren't you supposed to soak first?
>>
>>7424205

This board consists of people who eat fast food daily and come here to look at pictures

Small amount of wifey materials that are afraid to post and if they do they are so scarred that they never come back

Retards that know fuck all about food and came here because mommy forgot to buy tendies

The last 10% are alcoholics very few them can cook
>>
>>7425454
Not that guy, but I made some the other day and it's fine if you rinse them after cutting to get rid of the starch. But I've done it where I didn't rinse it and it came out fine as well.
>>
>>7425454
Fries.... not when made in the oven
>>
>>7425337
>what is solanin
>>
>>7425616
Solanine is not an issue
However non-organic potatoes are sprayed with chemicals after harvest to delay sprouting
>>
>>7425647
I know.. but saying "eating potato peel is healthy" is bullshit too..

solanin is not destroyed by heat or digestion, it accumulate in the body cells over years ... and organic patotoes have more solanin then other ones ...

solanin is a protection for the plant again insects
>>
>>7425614
They are frying, though, there's oil. If you fry them in a pan they get saturated with oil and taste like shit, even when I drain mine they come out too greasy. Make them in the oven and they're a lot nicer and crunchier imo.
>>
>>7425674
i mean when you do French fries you have to soak them.in water before you fried them to remove the excess of starch.. you don't need to soak them in water when you put them in the oven .. and btw I never use oil but butter when I do them in a pan
>>
>>7425153
This. Mom told me the same after my first batch of potatoes in the oven
>>
>>7425484
can confirm. Alcoholic here. I like the photos and cannot cook shit without messing it up. Thanks.
>>
>>7424174
home fries and over easy eggs are great.
>>
Salt potatoes, of course. Either that or homemade chips.

Bomb ass potato fingers AKA homefries
>take bowl, add 1/2 cup oil
>add potatoes sliced into wedges
>I like skin on, extra vitamin c
>add 1 tablespoon salt spread on top
>shake the fuck out of the bowl
>swirl around until oil and salt coverage is achieved
>place on baking sheet, skin side down so they don't stick (or oil pan)
>bake at 350 for 20 min

or silver dollar potatoes, great with eggs
>put oil into skillet, heat
>cut 1/4" potato rounds into oil
>let fry
>pull potatoes out when golden brown
>drain excess oil on a paper towl equipped plate
>use remaining pan oil to fry eggs

or mashed 'tatoes:
>boil potatoes until soft
>drain almost all of the water
>mash, add salt and oil to taste

and my favorite, potato tacos
srsly mexican staple
>follow mashed potato recipie
>pan fry little lumps of the potato in an oiled skillet
>put in a taco, treat as the meat filling
great for bitchy vegans

>>7427935
yeah i have extreme hankering for this, guess that's dinner now
>>
>>7427935
>well it's two eggs up on whiskey toast, home fries on the side
>wash it down with roadhouse coffee, burns up your insides
>>
>>7424204
>he hasn't figured out how to condense the quintessence of the potato in the form of a primum ens

OP should make mashed potatoes, then deep-fry small scoops of the potatoes to make potato puffs.
>>
>>7424174
