What is the proper way to prepare chicken hearts?
>>
Grilled on a skewer
>>
>>7406838
slice, remove tubes (arteries), season
>>
seasoned with a little salt and pepper, then sauteed or grilled

they have a lot of flavor, so it's best to prepare them simply
>>
>>7406841
What about the fat at the top? Should that be trimmed?
>>
ask your local chinese buffet. those cunts use anything.
>>
>>7406860

have you ever eaten them? they are delicious. I order them for people without telling them what they are and they are always amazed when I tell them.
>>
>>7406838
Season however you like and bake
>>
>>7406878
no, i havent eaten chicken hearts. i tend to avoid organ/nervous system meats.
>>
>>7406838
They need to be fresh and raw. It's best if they're still beating when you eat them. This way you gain the chickens' strength.
>>
>>7406885

honestly you are missing out. I always get them at my local yakitori place.
>>
>>7406892
who or what got you into that stuff?

i am willing to try it now, but come on... how did you say "fuck it, i am going to eat some nasty ass shit"
>>
>>7406895

someone I was with ordered some and said 'you have to try this'. same with deep fried chicken cartilage, which I was even more apprehensive about but now it's the first thing I order.

try everything. if you don't like something then stop eating it; you lose nothing. if you like it you can enjoy it again.

hahahahaah nice one mate

I like 'em a few different ways:

1) Marinade in rice wine or mirin or sake for a while, then skewer and grill 'em.

2) Mince them and use as part of the cajun dish "dirty rice"; they're cooked along with chicken liver, onions, green peppers, and celery, then mixed with rice and seasoned.

3) If I'm feeling fancy, mince them then fry them up with onion and herbs. Let cool, mix in a little beaten egg, and then stuff mushroom caps with the chicken heart mixture. Panko bread crumbs over the chicken meat side of the mushroom, then finish by deep frying.

It won't kill you to be adventurous with your food.
Whenever I see something exotic, I always want to try it out to see if it's good.
I'm still eagerly awaiting the day I get to try balut.

I've always wanted to try them, is there anything you would compare the flavor and texture to?
And what's the best place to order them?
I'm in Minneapolis if that helps
>>
>>7406971
I suppose they're a bit like chicken gizzards, if you've had those. They don't taste the same, but they're similar in the sense it tastes like chicken meat with a bit of an aftertaste and different texture. Much less crunchy than gizzards, though. Your best bet is to find a yakitori place or Brazilian steakhouse.
>>
>>7406988
Thanks anon, I think there's a Yakitori place somewhere around here, and there's a big chain Brazilian steakhouse downtown.

I saute them with onions. Season with salt, black pepper and smoked paprika.
It takes some time for them to become tender.
>>
Haven't had them. But, I've heard sliced chicken or beef heart is good in stir-fry.
>>
>>7406838
Same as gizzards:
Breaded then pan/deep fried. Add hot sauce.

I've tried beef heart but lamb is better
>>

i feel like i'd have to work my way up to it .. starting at 1 day old, then 3 and so on untill i'm eating full blown duck fetus

i bet it's decent. i mean eggs are good, and duck is good.. so why wouldn't the combo be good?
>>
i use them if i make chilli, they are cheap (student) and delicious.
>>
Harts are good but chicken kidneys are way to go.

Because he's an uneducated moron and doesn't understand that cardiac muscle is much more similar to skeletal muscle than it is to smooth muscle.
