I just got a skillet, and when I tried using it I noticed a bunch of black powder sticking to the food. Is this safe? How do I get rid of it?
into the trash it goes
get anodized alu
Collect the black powder and use it for explosives to kill islamics.
That's pepper.
It's one of the ingredients in the recipe you followed.
It's good, so don't worry about it.

It definitely wasn't pepper.

Mine did that for the first couple cooks but it doesn't anymore. Did you properly season it?

first, a skillet will always impart some iron to your food. in fact it is said that you can reach your dv of iron just by cooking food in a skillet. second you should season and scrub it multiple times to prep it, use steel wool
