Your dog is confused as to why you called him over to an empty plate.
I don't have a pet or a way of making blini, but I like this thread and will be monitoring closely.

Dictionary might say so, but keep in mind that traditionally blini are made using buckwheat flour, so they are not the same thing.

Contemporary Russian blinis are like crepes.
Old-fashioned Russian blinis are thicker and pancakey, fried in generous amounts of clarified butter. That's the type of blini you get in the rump of the Russian empire, Finland.

Finns also makes blinis out of buckwheat flour.
Usually served with smetana, red onion and roe, possibly with cold smoked salmon.
alternatively with smetana, finely diced pickles and honey.
The only human food my cat will eat is chicken enchiladas. No idea why. She won't eat tuna, beef, anything. But you give her slow cooked chicken enchiladas and she'll pig out like no tomorrow. Animals are weird.
