Are they really extinct or not? I always thought they were, but I've seen restaurants that have buffalo wings on the menu! Or are those actually fake buffalos, like very hairy cows instead of the real deal? I mean the buffalos that the europeans brought with them when they colonized the west.

The American Bison is not extinct. It can still be seen in the wild in many parts of the US.
Buffalo wings are chicken wings with a sauce that presumably originated in Buffalo, NY.

I ate water buffalo in Cambodia recently but different to amerifat buffalo, it's like eating cooked beef jerky although it's also then cut and rubbed into salt, pepper and lime juice.
