When a recipe calls for, say "ground pepper", it just means black pepper right?
Are the other varieties called by their color in recipes? Like, "ground green pepper" or so?

But I would black is the default.

no, it means use ground pepper as opposed to sky pepper or water pepper.

green pepper isnt found ground becuase i geeral its used fresh/brined becuase fried ones have a low shelf life
