I don't get it

Marge tends to not really be a very good cook. There was one episode where she impressed them all by adding salt to pork chops.

Well for starters the preceding line is "8 spices? Some of those must be doubles".
So the idea is that Marge is typically very bland in her cooking, especially if she doesn't know that there are more than 8 spices (though I suppose oregano is a herb but whatever).
