I don't understand the point of these. The machine really does nothing but add hot water, right? Can't they just put them in a tearable packet and have you use a kettle? Isn't it just instant coffee and milk powder?

You're not going to be able to find one. Kurrig uses a custom chip to manage the water pump and temperature and has many other little details to make it difficult for copycats, legal and otherwise.
