Not that outlandish. Plenty of people dip their fries in their thick shake or sundae.
But if I want to combine my sweet and salty side, I'll be reaching for salted caramel every time.

I put a Hershey's milk chocolate square on my pizza sometimes. Sweet and salty truly is a nice combination.
As for fries, I dunno, but I would try it at least once.
