Not American. What does "Animal Style" actually mean?

They fry the patty in mustard, and grill up the onions.

Animal style on the fries adds cheese, onions, and the burger spread, which is more or less a thousand island dressing kind of thing.

I don't know why Animal Style isn't the default at this point. I don't think I've gotten a regular burger in years.

What don't you get? The mustard is fried on to the patty instead of being put on afterwards.
