>Decide to make eggnog for a family surprise
>Find a recipe I like, decide on a cooked egg nog
>Buy ingredients
>Start preparing the nog
>Everything is going smooth
>Bring cream and milk to a simmer
>Whisk egg yolks with sugar

>Add vanilla
>Mix together
>Taste for final verdict before cooling
>"Hmmm... Maybe needs more sugar, seems a little off..."
>Add a tiny bit more sugar
>"Better, but... Eh, maybe I'm just psyching myself out."
>Take eggnog custard mix off burner and let it cool
>Start cleaning up
>Grab the spice jars I grabbed for the cinnamon and nutmeg
>Look at cinnamon jar
>Realize that instead of cinnamon, I grabbed the (very similarly looking) cumin jar by accident

i did the same thing
>making sponge cake
>dusting icing sugar over the top
>seems a bit different, but I continue
>bite into cake, immediately spit back out
>fucking baking soda instead of icing sugar
>making chicken soup first time
>sounds simple so I decide I don't need to follow a recipe
>buy a whole chicken
>put whole chicken in a 5 liter pot, cover with water
>add some sliced carrots, parsnip and onion
>smells really nice
>boil the fucker for 7 fucking hours, toping it up with water every now and then
>7 hours later, take chicken out
>it's falling apart, leave some of the meat in
>this shit needs some noodles
>pour a 250g of soup noodles in the pot
>boil for another 10 minutes
basically the whole soup turned to noodle jelly at this stage. the result was something like pic related, yet sightly worse.
i pourred beer into a glass with two ounces of vodka and ice when i was told to do exactly the goddamn opposite, i felt like a retard for the rest of the evening
>Making wings in oven
>recipe says toss wings in baking powder, makes em crispy
>make wings

shred the chicken more before putting it back in the soup
probably too much liquid so the noodles and veg and chicken didn't... populate/crowd the soup as well. add less water or just reduce the soup to your liking before adding the noodles to boil.
also, use wide egg noodles for heartiness. it'll stay on the spoon better than skinny round noodles.
last, thicken the soup with a roux if you want creamy chicken noodle soup.

also serve it in a bowl rather than a platter?
one last note, i like mushrooms in everything so throw some sauteed or dehydrated mushrooms in there

7 hours seems like too long.
I think the vegetables should be added after the chicken because they don't take as long to cook.
Maybe should've skimmed some fat as well.

Shouldn't boil chicken for more than 3 hours
