Anyone got a favorite hummus recipe to share?
I just tried making my own a little bit ago and it came out great:
-4 garlic cloves
-2 cans of chickpeas
-1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
-1/3 cup tahini
-6 tablespoons lemon juice
-1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar
-2 tablespoons of liquid from the chickpeas
-hot sauce of choice
-a shit ton of red pepper flakes
-half a tablespoon of cumin

Sounds kinda bland, but whatever floats your boat.
Alton Brown's recipe:
Two 15-ounce cans chickpeas (garbanzo beans) drained, liquid reserved
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/3 cup tahini, stirred well
5 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for service
Powdered sumac and/or smoked paprika to taste, optional

this is my go-to recipe. i do add some cumin and coriander, though, otherwise it's a bit bland.

Coriander sounds good, I didn't think of that, but i'll try it out next time.
Has anyone ever made them from dried chickpeas? Can I just add plain water instead of the can's water or will it be too bland?
>tfw you really want to like hummus because of all the delicious sounding flavors but that gritty fucking texture makes you gag

You're either buying a bad brand or your making it wrong.

Thanks for the answer! I didn't find any tahini at my supermarket today so I'll make it from scratch tomorrow. Since I'm asian we always have some sesame seeds lying around, that'll be a good way to use them.
Protip: Don't add all the igredians at once.
Start by whipping the tahini,
then put in your liquid ingredients
then the dry ingredients,
and finally add in your chickpeas a little at a time.
Makes for a smoother hummus.
fuck you
