You can eat the greens to maximise the value you get out of your purchase. They can be a bit bitter, but I don't mind that personally.

Love turnip and lettuce salad in the spring.

i will chop them up and wrap in foil and bake them like potatoes

leave them chunky or mash them up

just be sure to peel them good as they have quite a thick skin

What a coincidence. I was thinking about buying turnips the other day bu don't know anything about them or what they go with.

What are they similar too? I can usually imagine the taste and put a food into a catagory. But not with these.

Halve or quarter them
Saute til they get nice color on the cut sides
Add red verjus or wine & some juice
Reduce & cook until they're tender
Saute the turnip greens separately
Goes well with a steak
