I don't know if it's because of my small amount of Greek ancestry, but ever since I hit my 20's I started enjoying the fuck out of olives. I snack on that shit all the time now, it's like crack at this point. Which is weird because I used to absolutely hate olives when I was younger.

I'm sorry for your inferior taste buds.
>>

I've always hated olives, except kalamata olives, they're great after shots of tequila.
>>
I am in no way a picky eater, I eat an extremely variety of things.

That being said, I hate sour cream straight. If it's mixed with other things (like it's not 75% sour cream), I'll probably be quite fine.

Another thing is cream cheese. Hate it. Those are the only two things that I've ran into that I just hate.

It's an ingredient, or a condiment, not a standalone food.

Why are you making excuses? You sound like some faggit obama/clinton type making excuses for islamics.

People like what they like, that's the way of things. So you find a certain girl attractive and not others, that's ok, but having taste in food is somehow bad.

That faggit is just trolling.

Every memory I have of celery is relentlessly chewing on it until it turns into stringy pulp that sticks half way down your throat. I've never successfully eated it, I just end up spitting it out. It's a lot of effort for something that tastes pretty bad.
>>
>>7156104
I don't get why everyone just eats raw fucking celery. Its a vegetable just like any other with a great unique flavour, if you cook it. Celery in stews, celery in risotto, celery in pasta sauces, celery in pies. Its about as versatile as onion and cooks in the exact same way but so many people just ignore it as an ingredient and think the only way to consume it is to crunch on raw sticks of the stuff.
>>
Corn.

Canned, creamed, or on the cob. I've never been able to eat it, parents would try feeding it to me when I was a kid and I would vomit everywhere. If i were to try to eat it now, I'd vomit everywhere. Just smelling it cook or even thinking about it right now makes me nauseous.

i'm actually pretty sure that when you get older, your tastebuds develop (or you just stop being autistic about tastes) when you get older. i used to hate or dislike a lot of things when i was younger but as i've gotten older i've started loving or at least liking those same things. These include, but are not limited to, olives, brussel sprouts, parsnip, broccoli, cooked carrots and cooked cauliflower.
anyways, there's still one thing that i really dislike and i don't even know what it is, it's some sort of seafood, i've had it once and it was a nigirizushi. really white in color, looked and felt slimy and was chewy as fuck. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Here you go.

Fuck all the picky eaters posting good food, here's something actually disgusting.

Kæstur Hákarl, or hákarl for short, is prepared through a time-honored process. The same process used in Viking times is still used today. First, the shark is beheaded. Then, to eliminate poisons, such as trimethylamine oxide and uric acid (a compound found in urine), a shallow hole is dug in the sand and the hákarl is placed in it with stones, sand, and gravel placed on top. The pressure of the stones causes liquids to seep out over a period of 6-12 weeks, a time frame that allows the shark to ferment properly. After this, the fermented shark - which is 24 feet long on average - is taken out of the ground, cut into long pieces and hung up to dry for several months. Many hákarl preparers claim they know the meat is ready just by the smell and once a characteristic dry, brown crust forms. When the time is right, the pieces are taken down, the crust is removed and the meat is cut into slices and served and enjoyed by many.

"upon first encountering hákarl, one should expect a full-on assault on the nostrils from a putrid smell that is reminiscent of rotten cheese mixed with ammonia"

And i'd still fucking try it.

Casu_Marzu_cheese.jpg
3 MB, 2848x2136
>>7161875
Bonus round:

>>7161840
>You cannot find a worse "cheese".

Casu marzu goes beyond typical fermentation to a stage of decomposition, brought about by the digestive action of the larvae of the cheese fly Piophila casei. These larvae are deliberately introduced to the cheese, promoting an advanced level of fermentation and breaking down of the cheese's fats. The texture of the cheese becomes very soft, with some liquid seeping out. The larvae themselves appear as translucent white worms. When disturbed, the larvae can launch themselves for distances up to 15 cm (6 in). Some people clear the larvae from the cheese before consuming while others do not. The cheese, along with one of its Sardinian makers, Giovanni Gabbas, received attention on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. Zimmern described the taste of the cheese as "so ammoniated" that "...it scorches your tongue a bit." The cheese is known to leave an aftertaste for a duration of up to several hours.

>>
>>7155602
Pretty much the same thing happened to me, though I have no greek ancestry to speak of. I absolutely fucking hated olives as a kid, then when I hit about 19 or 20 I tried them again and found that I loved them.

I wish the same thing would happen with seafood for me. I still gag whenever I try to eat most fish and shellfish. Occasionally I can get some down when it's chopped up and mixed in with something else but even then, sometimes the flavor and/or texture just get to me.

I have no idea why. I remember eating and liking fish when I was really young then for some reason I just stopped liking it and trying to eat it would make me feel sick. I don't even remember any traumatic experiences or food poisoning from fish or anything either.
