I've worked in the industry for over a decade. I have literally never met a server who would rather make an hourly wage rather than 2.13+tips because even if you have a slow night the good nights more than make up for it and on average you make way more than you would with minimum wage. Legally if you don't have what would be considered minimum wage for a pay period then they company has to bump you up to that level for that paycheck. I've only seen this happen maybe three times. The rest of the time they made at minimum wage or above.
Also, if you are a server and in the weeds you're a shit server. Try working back of house or even as a hostess having to deal with terrible servers like you.
