I want to make some far breton, I've got eggs, flour and milk but my sugar is ancient (probably 4 years old at least) and has clumps.
It also wasn't stored in a tight container, just in a folded over paper bag.
Still good to use?
why exactly do you have 4 year old sugar?
also you might just want to replace it, it's cheap

I rarely use sugar, can't even remember the last time I made something sweet.
I'd get new sugar but it's Sunday here and all the stores are closed.

pure sugar never goes bad. it's a pure stable chemical and microorganisms can't survive in it.

Thanks everyone, ended up throwing the sugar away because there were some yellow flecks in it and it smelled funny.
I used rice syrup instead of sugar, texture was a bit different but it tasted fine.
