Do you shovel your food into your mouth or are you house-trained?
>>7079249
>using a fork to shovel
try a spoon dude it's great
I reverse grip shovel
Myself, and everyone I know holds utensils like you would a pencil.
I go for a two spoon setup personally
>>7079262
>Myself, and everyone I know holds utensils like you would a pencil.
What the FUCK, how does that even work?
>>7079261
?????
>>7079265
Yeah. I can see how it'd be confusing the way I worded it; you hold it palm-up, with your thumb near the bottom of the handle and the pinkie toward the business end.
jesus christ I can't stand people who grab utensils that way
it's like they're fucking retarded
>>7079269
How is that not what was pictured?
How do you eat like that doesn't it hurt your wrist?
I sometimes absent mindlessly grab a spoon like a shovel, but usually correct myself after the first bite because it feels wrong.
>>7079274
I said YEAH didn't I. You got it right, I was just clarifying for anyone else.
And not really, but I guess cuz I've been doing it for like 40 years by now. I know it looks real stupid but trying to do it other ways actually DOES hurt and I just don't care enough to try and change it.
why do people hold their forks like this? they even put food on top but what's the point? it will just fucking slide off, it's only slightly useful when cutting into meat or some shit
you're not supposed to hold it upside down like this ffs
>>7079291
>>7079300
That's how I hold it. Food never falls off unless you're trying to fill'er up American style
>>7079300
You hold it that way when you are stabbing the fork into food.
You hold it with the curve up when scooping up food.
>>7079262
Like on the left?
>>7079305
that's abd etiquette though
you're supposed to only hold it that way when you cut into something, like a steak
when it's cut you can scoop it like any non-retarded person would
>>7079311
Shit, let's try that again.
>not grabbing your utensils like you would grab a dick
>>7079317
>mfw I see people holding pencils differently,
It always bothers me when they have the tip of EVERY finger on the damn thing.
>>7079265
pls don't stab me
Fist grip is lower class, pencil middle class, and hidden handle upper class. Fork tines should be down, though briefly using it as a scoop for peas is acceptable. Food should be pushed on to the inside edge of the fork in that case, never the outside.
It's all bullshit, though using your fist does kinda make it look like you have the dexterity of a gorilla.
>>7079354
what if I put my utensils in the "finished" position before I am actually finished
haha
>>7079369
The food boogeymonster will come and take your food away
>watching American cutlery etiquette
What the actual fuck, just eat like an adult.
I pretty much hold my silverware exactly like I hold my drumsticks when playing jazz - with the knife on the right hand and fork on the left.
>>7079249
I was house trained, but prison changed me a bit.
how do you get rice with a fork when it's in your offhand
>>7079550
The same way you would if it was in your good hand.
I'm house trained and it really burns my bacon when on one of the food shows the patrons eat like little kids, and it's usually an upscale joint.
>>7079249
I use a fork held with my right hand unless I really need a knife. I don't hold it like that though.
>>7079254
They're right.
Dogs use their tongues to bring food to their mouths piece by piece.
>>7079249
Nope. I use a fork and spoon.
>>7081186
Why the fuck is the knife supposed to be held in the right hand?
I eat with the fork in my right hand and the knife in my left hand when I'm at home.
When I'm out I have to force myself to use my fork in my non-dominant hand, it just feels unnatural.
Who came up with that awful rule?
>>7081225
I always eat left handed, only giga autismals will complain about it
I use a table spoon to help spin my spaghetti on my fork.
>>7081232
>he eats with the hand he uses to wipe off his shit
The REAL important matter is how you cut your steak
This is how you properly cut the steak every other technique is mongrel tier
Excuse the poor illustration
>>7081315
>knife in the wrong hand
How gauche.
>>7081259
Only reason it would matter is if you're scooping feces with your hands and don't wash afterwards.
>>7079249
Thumb goes over the top, m8
>>7079380
will people notice if I eat with the fork in my right hand
>>7082568
Why would you give a fuck what people notice? You're not one of those mental deficients who would freeze up and start crying if they had to eat alone in public, are you?
>>7082577
the whole point of this thread is table manners, an expected convention. pretty retarded question to ask
>>7082577
>EVERYBODY'S LOOKING AT ME AND TALKING ABOUT ME!!!!!
>>7082577
Yes, I'm glad we live in a world where nobody judges you, appearances don't matter, and everything is meritocratic. It's the reason why I don't give a shit about being obese and wear graphic t-shirts and cargo pants everyday. kek
