Canned seafood thread?
I was always skeptical but I got these today and I think I'm into it. Not that spicy but I added red yucateca and it's great on saltines. Recommendations and recipes are welcomed
Addendum:
I'm done and have a half tin of oil and sauce left. Suggestions for use?
>>7056162
Where did you get this?
>>7056206
Use it as salad dressing
meat seasoning
omelet seasoning
it just adds flavor to whatever you let it
Tinned tuna is good formed into patties, so is tinned salmon and crab.
Just add 1 egg, 3tbsp flour and some oil, I add onions as well, just form into patties and fry

Canned seafood is the best kind of canned food. I'm not really sure why, but it seems to just always come out better.
Also you can use them as cerviche by adding the same ingredients minus the egg nd flour and adding lime juice,
Just leave to set for an hour in the fridge

Except for salmon, tinned salmon is an abomination compared to the real thing
Wow! Canned seafood sure is great! Just put some of these bad boys on saltines and I'm in heaven :)! I have at least one tin a week, it's my guilty pleasure!
>>7056461
I got it at stater brothers. It's a grocer local to the southwest
>>7056550
>ceviche
>egg and flour
What in the shit
>>7056565
you sick fuck, you stay away from my daughter
>>7056565
Pay 10 cents more for a decent brand next time.
At the very least it should say "fancy" on the label.
got these at costco, 6 pack for 6 bucks. 3.75oz each so a good size. Tastes decent, though a bit dry with the missing skin fat
>>7057106
normally 9 bucks, but there was a instant rebate

Wild Planet are by far the best Sardines of that type (boned and eviscerated) that I've ever seen. But I think King Oscar has about highest quality overall of their products.
the best:
mackerel
kippers
brisling sardines in olive oil
What is your favourite sardine brand?
I'm partial to these myself.

I bought a can of this on sale and it's been sitting in my pantry for 6 months now.
I've honestly gotten drunk and taken pills and still haven't gotten up the courage to bust it open.
>they still have cases of it on sale where i bought it
>>7057106
I love those. A can of those and some slices of bread and I'm happy. The costco didn't have them for months though, so I tried pic related and they fucking sucked. Brunswick kippered herring is alright though
>>7057367
>not the mustard one
>>7057401
What is it? I can't read slavshit.
>>7057512
brunswick kippered herring is great, golden smoked, if you can find them, are godly with some crackers, old cheddar cheese, some mustard, an apple, and a pot of tea.
It's the comfiest breakfast.
>>7057544
Smoked sprats.
>>7056162
I have no idea what's in this shit but it's the absolute best
>>7056529
Also good with tomato sauce, makes it a bit more savoury
I like putting canned octopus in my instant ramen
The king.
>>7056565
How do you eat these? Just by themselves or with garlic bread or something?
I bought a can today out of curiosity and don't really know what to do with them.
>>7056162
You fuckingh kill inteligent creatures so you can put them on slatines?
Monster.
>>7058412
They would eat us if only they could.
>>7057946
Start simply with a saltine and a dash of your favorite hot sauce. On crusty bread with guacamole and a spritz of lemon is good too
Anyone know if canned squid is a thing?
>>7058888
I eat it all the time, it's delicious on rice.
>>7058703
I don't really get it. I feel like Sardines are more filling and taste better for roughly the same price.
I'm not exactly opposed to gritty canned oyster flesh, but I haven't managed to find a way to really make them pop for me.
>>7056565
you stole my suggestion.
these with crackers
>>7056543
Substitute the flour with crumbled saltines and that's the way I like it. Also lots of seasoning and lemon juice on top.
>>7057647
My money's on eel.
>>7058888
Yes, and it's really good. My favorite to put on sandwiches.
>>7057077
Did you not read the bit where I said minus the egg and flour?
Is there a way to get rid of the metallic aftertaste? There was a time where I'd enjoy sardines and oysters but at some point they just got too "canny"

Asian grocery stores have the oddest shit in them:
>candied green olives - worse than it sounds an hard as fuck to eat of the pit
>tubs of fresh beef bile - even a little bit adds a pungent vomit flavor to any dish
>placenta facial moisturizes - full of estrogen etc. makes sense i guess
some really good sardines.
Can you fry canned sardines in olive oil? I'd like them to become all warm and crispy.
>>7057106
10/10 eating some as I type this.
>>7056556
this; I've worked three summers in and around salmon processing/canning plants in Alaska. Never, EVER under any circumstances buy canned pink salmon. It may taste fine, but it's rotting right out of the water
>>7063278
Sure, it'd work fine. I'd recommend a 50/50 mix of butter and olive oil though, and possibly a light toss in another 50/50 mix, of flour and corn starch.
a challenger appears
I'm making sardine patties right now. 1 can of sardine, 1 egg and just enough flour to bind it + salt/pepper/garlic/cayenne. It's super basic but I'm anxious to see how it'll hold up compared to a generic beef hamburger.
Any suggestions they hit the pan?
>>7063373
They sell this in my local shop. Is it any good?
Never had octopus before.
>>7065072
Octopus ftw.
Love the crunchyness
