>>9078541
>requesting it for free is basically stealing from the artist
Technically yes but if they weren't going to pay for it in the first place it's not like the artist has lost out on any money and perhaps once they get the means for it they'll purchase it on their own? Are you one of those people who lectures others about pirating movies and music for "stealing"? Where do you think we are? Plus some of the stuff posted in here is from books and magazines and it wasn't free so go bitch somewhere else.
>>9078539
Sure thing, it's a bit long since she really packs a lot of info in every PDF but I'll skip some of the pages about tools and general stuff. I have a personal project I want to work on but I'm pretty novice when it comes to sewing.
Any ideas on where to get started? Pic related is my inspiration. I'm very comfortable sculpting a face for it and other features. But the sewing is what gets me. I'm thinking of a basic plush animal pattern like a teddy bear and poking a hole in the head for the face..?
>also how awful is faux fur to work with, any tips
>>9079355
Is that top one a mother fucking puppy surprise?!
Fake fur is a pain in the ass and gets everywhere, cut it with a razor blade to avoid cutting the fur when you cut.
Not sure how well sculpting with holes onto fabric will work, since clay is usually heavier than plastic.
>>9079359
Its either puppy surprise or puppy check up, I forget haha. I really love vintage toys. I havent bought any plushes yet but I've been working on my Polly Pocket collection for awhile.
Thank you for the info! I can already imagine fake fur is going to be a nightmare. I was thinking the same thing about weight. I might incorporate an armature into the back of the face, with only a thin layer of clay. Or consider using a lighter clay. I also work with resin but in the long run I dont think it would work as well. It could be nice though to make small accessories like the pendant of a collar with it however.
>>9079380
seconding, they are terrifying
>>9079261
I did read that. As I understand it that only applies for a certain period of time. You make the previous month's project to earn the current month's pattern. It's an ongoing promotion. You can't earn unlimited past patterns and if that was all it took I would have no qualms with doing that and your hostility over requests is still very confusing to me.
>>9079296
Don't praise them those patterns came from a magazine and that's stealing to post them here you should have bought that magazine yourself omg I can't believe you it's not even expensive
>>9079403
I thought that's what the praise is for, the pattern is specifically from really old gosuroris printed maybe over a decade ago, long out of print, difficult to find, and represent a slice of lolita history. Can you even remember a time when front lacing still acceptable and not met with derision from most lolitas.
Quite a different story from requesting a current pattern from an indie pattern maker who is trying to make a living off selling patterns in the present.
>>9079575
This >>9079581
and Choly makes most of her money from selling her books I'm sure, she routinely gives patterns away plus the pattern requested was free at one time so please stop being a cunt about it and trying to defend "muh indie artist community" over something I'm sure Choly could not give less of a shit about.
>>9079697
Jeez, you're really roasted. Maybe if you calm down and ask nicely your mum will let you borrow her credit card.

>>9079785
>You should actually report this seller for selling stolen intellectual property without the original artists' permision.
I'm sorry to inform you that unless you're a large corporation reporting fanartists for copyright infringement Etsy could care less. I've reported Chinese bootleggers selling fake Pokemon plush and screenshot rips of anime shows as posters and it has never lead to anything.
>>9079799
No one. I don't make online patterns or tutorials. I'm here to look at other people's patterns.
So someone said no, they refuse to share a paid pattern. Just move on. Eventually, in some future thread, some more laid back anon will be willing to share the paid patterns.
However, if an anon requests a paid-for pattern, I think it goes with the territory that they expect possible backlash, either from people who sell patterns, or people who paid for patterns. People do have different moral compasses, some people take things like this more seriously and others don't care.
It's the posting sarcastic remarks making fun of a perfectly legitimate moral reason for refusing to share that tutorial that makes these anons look butthurt and confused that 4chan didn't bend over backwards to give them what they want.

I modified the pattern off that Simple Bear pattern (http://www.eldrbarry.net/im/meg/simpbear.pdf) and basically made the head and belly bigger and the arms, legs, and torso shorter and smaller. >>9082113

>>9081980
Sorry, Anon, this is the closest thing I have to a "pattern" in my millinery book for a wide brimmed hat; It doesn't have a set tutorial to it since the book is broken into chapters/assumes you have patterning experience.
I'll do a little more searching for a more thorough tutorial or pattern you can work off of, though! These hats are all about having a solid interfacing and using wire to create the shapes of them, especially since the brims are cut asymmetrically.
>>9082113
Can't you just enlarge the patterns?
>>9080610
I've seen one in 11 years...The panelist opened with suggesting, "high quality materials like felt" and spent the next 20 minutes talking bout, "amy-groomy"
>>9082136
Yes, the concept is similar. I'm hoping to find a tutorial with a sturdier hat construction. Whilst glue may be appropriate for miniature dolls, I'm afraid it wouldn't be adequate for personal use.
>>9082150
Thank you, anon! That would be wonderful; I'm really stumped on how to incorporate the wire to achieve the correct shape. I'm conscious of using glue, as I assume milliners use some form of stitching?

I don't have any tutorials to share because I had a friend who walked me through it for advice, but basically
> use actual buckram, the bigger the brim the more support it needs
> stitch inside pieces together (I left tabs to overlap and just hand stitched it)
> wire brim edge, crown edge, and where crown meets brim - 14 or 16 aluminum wire is fine, and stitch it down
> shape brim if desired with steam and gentle curling
> glue layer of felt to everything (hides the texture of the buckram and wire)
> lightly glue fashion fabric down over felt, slipstitch joins to hide raw edges
> bias tape around the brim edge to hide raw edges/attach everything together
> decorate
