It was super cool seeing you too!! Your bag is amazing to see irl. I hope that your con experience was great!
>>
>>9030229
I already looked at the faq but sorry if it's already answered but what brand of bag is this?
>>
Anyone else have issues with buttons leaving dark grey marks on other buttons? Any tips for getting them off? I tried water, and the stuff for cleaning glasses, and had a bit of success but some I can't get off.

Guess I need badge covers. Or a new bag layout, but I love the overlapping look too much.

Well I'm just gonna go kill myself now
>>
>>9031447
Probably shouldn't be in the hobby if you're going to have a shitty attitude like that. People put a lot of effort into these so there's probably always going to be someone who has something technically better but you shouldn't judge them because you're not at their level.
Don't get discouraged and plan something which does look nice with what stock you can find.
>>
>>9031469
Shitty attitude..? I'm just fucking depressed. I know how fucking retarded this sounds but I always want to be "the best" at loving my favorite characters. Also your tone is condescending as fuck so fuck off maybe
>>
>>9031484
You're calling some girl a whore and talking about suicide because you don't have the skills to buy certain products and arrange them so yes, I'd call that a shitty attitude. I was trying to say to be positive about making something you'll be happy with so I wasn't trying to be rude. You'll get no where being depressed vs aiming to do better.

Thanks anon! Seems like it's sold out everywhere though oh well-

>tfw waifu is from a ten year old game with very, very little merch, and what merch she does have is extremely rare and extremely expensive.

Does anyone know of any custom merch I can make? Already thinking of making shrinky dink charms, those plush (idk what they're called, but a lot of people have them on their bags), maybe dress a tiny bear in a small version of her outfit, I might commission small acrylic charms if I can, and I'm definitely going to get a commission of a daki for her (I've found one online, and I might make a mini daki keychain to hang off my bag, and if I can print off an image of her I'm making one of those face masks. For her bag,I kind of want to make a custom bag with her image, but I'm not completely sure on that.

Do my ideas sound okay? What does everyone think? Can anyone planning on using fan merch/own made weigh in on what they're doing?
>>

I'm the anon from last thread and oh my gooood I'm freaking out this is amazing. The dress GOAT. Can't wait till you finish the polymer clay figure.

Probably a dumb question, but does anyone know what's best to use to clean the vinyl/plastic window on the Wego heart bags? There's some kind of smudge on mine and I can't seem to get it off with soap.

Progress of my Kamen Rider Mach/Zangetsu itaoutfit. It's led me to the strangest purchase of my life (towel with Takatora/Zangetsu's business card printed on it and yes, it is official) and the coolest shoes I've ever owned (Adidas BB9TIS, same model Gou/Mach wears albeit in a different colour). Started out just hoarding merch but then I thought, if I have all this merch I might as well do an itaoutfit right?

Still trying to figure out how I could attach the trading cards to a bag.
>>
>>9031860
May I ask who it is? There's always buttons of course. Also if she has any particular items which are important to her (favourite food, weapon, symbol etc.) you can make charms of those. Maybe something like a pass case? I'm not sure how you would go about making something like that but you can look at some custom websites like artsmoo to see what they offer in regards to hanging off a bag.
Custom bag with an image might be overkill but it does really depend on what you have included. Since you'll be making everything yourself you can just plan different arrangements like leaving space on a bag to show the printed graphic or having a plain bag completely covered to see what works best.

Card sleeves with a safety pin through the plastic, maybe? They have tranparent thin plastic ones or slightly thicker ones in different colors that would give your cards a nice colored border.
>>
>>9031945
T-elos from Xenosaga. I might do KOS-MOS later, but that's if I start making more money. Merch from that game is pretty hard to find now, and was hard to find when it first came out, so I'm pretty much fucked as for official merch.

She has weapons, but I don't know if I could recreate them myself. Oh! A pass case is a great idea! Thanks for mentioning it being overkill, I don't want to do too much with this. If I do print an image, I might just print a patch? Or maybe only have it on the backside of the bag.

Thank you for your suggestions!
>>
>>9031860
Make patches and rosettes! I find they can be various sizes so they can tend to be good for filling in spaces. All yoir ideas are great

also, i'm looking for other insert bags to use to decorate my bag with. i'm considering this one, in black (since there's no purple/lavendar) for the insert. y/n/better suggestions???

Suruga-ya order came in, so I think I have enough to start on my bag for my murder-child. Next step: actually sewing the bag.
>>
>>9031990
Holy fuck, pics pls I need to see more merch of my daughters. I wanted to do a double bag, but I decided on just making two smaller bags, starting with T-ELOS. But now that I think on it, maybe I should just make a dual bag. But the little merch KOS-MOS has is legit extremely expensive. I think I can get the buttons and the telephone cards, but most others aren't so available. I finally got the motorcycle from the second game's limited edition, though!

Has anyone had any luck on aliexpress for basic heart tote bags?

I can find the backpack, schoolbag and generic jelly/transparent bags but no heart tote so far.

I'm a bit worried my wego bag wont arrive in time for a con in August
>>
>>9031938
I used the Ultra Pro Toploader card sleeves, they're made out of a harder plastic than standard card sleeves so I feel like my cards are protected and won't get nicked in the bag. Problem was, that the plastic was thick enough I couldn't get a safety pin through them. I used a craft foam backing covered in fabric for my itabag, though, and found I could just staple the card sleeves to it and it was very sturdy.

Good luck, anon! If you like fan merch, there's a bunch of stuff available on Etsy/Tictail/Storenvy since he's one of the royal siblings. Just keep your eyes open and keep checking back, you'll probably find a few new things every month until the game wanes in popularity.

If Fanime is any indication you won't have trouble finding acrylic charms and buttons in AAs. Pretty much 50% of hte tables seemed to have at least the 8 main nobles, a couple Kamuis, Maybe Aqua and Zero. Though they go for from $8-12 a pop which could add up quickly. At least they're usually double sided so if they flip around no big deal.

If you're not buying 18+ stuff, Suruga-ya lets you pay with Paypal, so I use Tenso, which is just a forwarding service - their fees have been very reasonable.

Im starting a Cinderella Girls bag! The charms are really heavy tho and weigh down the lining..any tips to help with that? And also any tips for attaching straps would be appreciated as well!
>>
>>9033508
attach safety pins in the back and hook the charms on that. also, do it on a clear file or a patterned board so it remains straight. if u want it to stay close to the heart window, stuff the back of the board in the front pocket with paper or fabric to push it forward. at least that's what i did.

Very cute, I love Cinderella Girls. I had the same issues with mine, so I cut some foam core to size, taped a fabric background to it, and hung the charms off that. It just slips inside the bag like so. If you don't have foam core, any type of stiff cardboard would be fine.

The Zangetsu keyring with the gold border and little acrylic star charm is from http://scorpionstar.storenvy.com/ (under construction right now so I can't link the exact listing)

And I forgot to include this in the picture but I also have this little melon lockseed padlock: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=525239828539&_u=110du4oj957c

Ganbarizing cards, mini drivers, voice lockseed, and faceplate are from surugaya.

The mask I got from taobao but you can find on yja by searching 斬月 おめん. The Yggdrasill shirt and towel are also from yja but they're super rare so if you want one you'll have to check very frequently.

Everything else has since been sold out/removed by the seller, unfortunately.

..Is it a coincidence that, while browsing this thread, my friend showed me a literal trash shoulder bag made out of a black plastic bag and duct tape for a Tripp cosplay.

Quick question.
My fandom is literary-based and does not have any animu-merch. Is it ok to take striking fanart and make buttons out of them, providing I don't sell them? I literally want no profits, just pretty depictions of husbands on my bag.
>>
>>9034255
It's okay if the artists give you permission to do so. Ask them first.

Definitely ask first!
1) it's respectful to ask first instead of just taking an artist's work
2) they may have buttons or charms of the character you like for sale already.

If they say yes, Vograce is your friend for charms. They produce them at wholesale price and don't have a MOQ. Artsbovine can make buttons and doesn't have a MOQ either.

Awesome, I'll probably have to invest in one of them the next time someone does a group WEGO order then!

As for my black bag, I'm debating on making it a bag for Megurine Luka, since Amiami has some stuff up for preorder right now. I thought about making an Overwatch bag, but there's almost no merch right now, not to mention that none of the merch that exists right now is for the character I was thinking of basing the bag on.

Ah, all the bags here look nice!

I'm rather new to making itabags (this is my first) but here's the one I'm working on! I ran out of room and had to upgrade to a larger bag (and frankly this looked better when it was on a smaller bag), but I've got more orders coming in soon so it won't look so empty, and I'll be rearranging stuff then.

I think my next step is to make a cover for it, and maybe buy a plushie or two?

Also, there's going to be an itabag meetup on Sunday afternoon at A-Kon, details in fb group (will be carrying mine on Saturday)

Thanks! Are you talking about the inside or outside of the bag? For the inside, everything in pinned onto a fabric board (basically fabric taped around a thick piece of card) and slipped into the front pocket.

For the outside I slipped the safety pin of the rosette inside a 3M command decorating clip with blu-tac over the top of the hook to stop it moving around. I gave it a few tugs and it doesn't seem to be detaching from the bag so I think the hooks should be okay to use for badges but for plushes and heavier dangly things (esp if they will swing from side to side) I probably wouldn't recommend it.

Anybody else severely underestimate the cost of these fucking bags? I'm in deep and I can't escape now, but I've spent more on one of these bags than I did my dream dress.
>>
Are there many photos of people actually carrying/wearing these it's bags? It seems like they would be pretty hard to coordinate with any kind of cute fashion due to clashing? Call for worn photos, or links please? Even if face blanked out, I just want to see the outfit styling with some of these, please.
>>
>>9036097
I knew when I got into it that it would be expensive but I did underestimate how many damn bags I'd end up wanting to make lol. Silly me thought I could stop at two.
I seem to be cursed to only get into expensive hobbies. First it was bjd, then lolita, then figure collecting, that led to ita bags, and finally I just got into cosplay as well. My wallet is constantly doomed lol
>>
>>9036101
But do you do any of these WELL? Each one of these hobbies is a wallet sucker by itself when done decently so either you have a lot of spare money or are just half-assing each thing.
>>
>>9036101
Me too. It's definitely turning into a descending spiral, but at least we have nice bags!

With figure collecting, some of it can be incorporated into itabags, so that's a win win on my book!
>>
>>9036100
>Are there many photos of people actually carrying/wearing these it's bags?
Basically every picture posted is of someone actually carrying their bag. They mostly clash with whatever you're wearing but no one really cares since it's like having a favorite pocketbook that you take everywhere even if you only actually match it once a week or something.

Oh no I haven't done them all at the same time! My hobbies go in waves. I was REALLY into bjd like 3-4 years ago. Lolita I've been doing for 3 years. I recently got out of figure collecting and I'm selling most of my collection. I still live at home as well so I don't have a ton of bills to pay so I'm definitely enjoying my hobbies while I can lol.

i went in with a budget of $250...$600 later i'm kinda close to almost finishing my first bag?
>>

It happens most when paying for shipping especially since it can be pretty confusing on which type you need to get. I probably paid another $75 more than planned because I found a figure that's normally $100 and got it for $15 of yahoo auctions, making my overall package size go way up
>>
>>9031938
Nice to see a KR bag. I'm making a Ryugen bag as my first itabag and also using Ganbarizing cards. I was thinking of using one of those card binder sheets for the cards and attaching that to the bag, but the others' idea of stapling colored card sleeves sounds good.

Pink.
A- Because her MEKA is pink. So if you have the hard shell like mimic her bot, but the inside will be her! Pretty fucking smart right there.

And B- If people only make merch of her (making her MEKA will be just an extra piece of cake, but I doubt you'll see more of it then her) you'll have the inside be all purple/blue since those are her colors. I think having the blue/purple surrounded by the pink will look awesome.

Nice, anon! Looks really great! You have an awesome variety of stuff on there. Where did you get the big can badges on the right for Part 4? I think I need that Okuyasu one...

I updated my bag today! I started to slowly take off the unofficial merchandise. I really want it to be official-only in the end. Added some stuff, took away some stuff. I'm waiting for the rest of those oversized acrylic part 4 charms to come in (Jotaro, Koichi, Rohan), for some reason those are delayed for me? Also a Kakyoin pouch. When they decide to come, I'll just have to reorganize again. Bleh.

Forgot to mention that I have multiples of all the cards shown except for Oath of Jace.
>>
>>9044638
Piggybacking off anon I think it could also look good with a piece of focal point art and a lot of empty space for merch

As for merch-light husbandos you can also make a commission small felt dolls/plushes, find some art you like and ask the artist if you can make buttons of it.
>>
>>9044661
Doesn't it?! Unfortunately, it seems like all the characters I want to make bags for are the ones no one makes merch for!

>TFW hardly anyone seems to make Speedwagon merch, either
>>
>>9035649
Yes your image related is what i meant.
Thanks so much!! Thats super super helpful. Ive been wanted bagdes on the outside of my bag but yeah, punching holes in such a nice bag would make me sad so thank you so much for the idea!

Oh shit, now I have to choose between 2 good ideas. Time to flip a coin lol thank you anon
>>9044670
No speedwagon merch?! What is this heresy?!?
>>
>>9032042
I recognize that statue. How's the drought?
>>
>>9042958
yup, velcro, but only along the bottom. Its pretty strong imho, but imho I would figure a way to close the sides too via snap or something, I'm too paranoid something will fall off..
>>
Do you all ever have trouble deciding who to make a bag for? Especially if you like a lot of characters and you're trying to decide which is the best to itabag.

Do you go for the one with the most available merch or tough it out and go for your one favorite that you know it'll be harder to bag for?
>>
So is suruga-ya's shipping always shitty or something? I placed quite a big order with them, and it's been about a week now, but that isn't as much of a concern to me, since the reviews have said it can sometimes take a while for their asses to get in gear.

More concerning is is it normal for the shit that you bought be still in your shipping cart and listed online? I paid for the items, the money taken out of my credit card and got a confirmation email, but the items that I bought are for the most part still on the website, with an increasing amount sold out as if other people have bought them. Is that...normal and they have the most fucked up system, or am I slowly but surely getting screwed over?
>>
>>9045910
this is totally normal, don't worry. they often have multiples of the same item and their system is automated. they're just fucking slow with processing anything.

took them 2 weeks to ship my order recently, during which 50% of the items i bought were sold out then relisted again.
>>
>>9045265
Yes, especially if you love every character in a particular series. I go through a process of deduction, first see the availability of the merch to how much I like the character and what color scheme I am going for.

I would like to but I doubt there are any ita bag people near me.
>>
>>9046001
Thank you anon; that's a relief. I don't mind waiting, but it would be such a bitch I ended up being refunded for half my things because they sold them before they shipped them out to me due to some kind of system glitch.
>>
>>9046051
Aw man if I knew of any around me I totally would. I'm hoping there'll be one at otakon as I should have my fourth bag done by then.
>>
>>9045910
Was in the same boat, anon. I did my first order with Surugaya around the end of May, but I /just/ got an email saying that my order was shipped today. I checked the listings of what I bought after I ordered though, and only 2 out of like 20 items was showing as OOS so I was worried about the same thing all week. I'm hoping it all goes smoothly and makes it to Tenso (and then to me) without any missing items.

Also similarly, I heard that Surugaya didn't take foreign credit cards and I had used mine when I made the order. They said they shipped it, but I haven't seen a pending charge or anything showing up on my CC at all from the time of ordering to now. Anyone experience this before?
>>
>>9046294
I ordered around mid-may (right after golden week actually, ouch!) and while it took them almost two weeks to confirm my order they did charge my foreign credit card. Also sometimes foreign charges don't show up on a statement until the end of the month.
>>
>>9046051
Any chance of anyone planning a meetup for some time around NYCC? I know it's kind of early, but no harm in asking.
>>
>>9046452
Best bet is probably posting in the facebook group

Poorly angled photo of bags from itabag meet at akon
Mine:
Ichimatsu, sayo, Oikawa (that tiny one in the corner)
>>
This may be a dumb question, but is there a site like Etsy in Japan that specializes in fanmade goods? Toranoana, Surugaya, and Y!J seem to have very little...
>>
>>9046559
There's pixiv booth but I would also like to know if there are any others out there

Site is called Minne

I'd like to have one but I don't know how many itabaggers are going to Nekocon. I spotted a few at my last con though even though there wasn't an official meet. There was even a booth selling itabag supplies.

I'm going to nekocon and will be bringing my flareon itabag to nekocon. If i can convince my other two friends to bring their jolteon and vaporeon bags too. Sorry if they aren't husbando itabag
>>
Does creativebovine allow you to order only one of a design on their 1 inch buttons now? For a while I could only buy designs on those in lots and it's discouraged me from ordering buttons from them for a while.

Really want to start my husbando's bag but unsure where to get the buttons- they'll all have to be homemade and I'm using comic covers/screenshots so I'm afraid of getting copyright dinged on a site since I'm using a western, Disney-owned character.
>>
>>9046935
Oh that's awesome! Closer to con I'd love to discuss a meet up. Right now I have one bag done (Rin from Free!) and I'm working on another and planning a third more casual one for everyday wear. And non-husbando is fine! My Rin bag is just my fave from Free!, my second bag is a general faves from a series bag, and my third bag is OTP.
>>
>>9046051
i don't think there are any planned yet, but I'll be bringing my bag either way.

probably going to opt for my simpler bag so i don't stress out over things vanishing.
>>
>>9046956
I want to have an actual husbando/boyfriendo bag for neko too, so when nekocon come closer, one of us could post on the fanpage to suggest an itabag meet and greet?
>>
Any itabaggers going to AnimeNEXT?
>>
>>9046963
I've actually never been to Nekocon before so I'll show up but I don't think I could organize. I'll be lost and confused as it is.
>>
>>9046965
I'll be there! I'm just going on Saturday though since I live nearby.

Is anyone planning an itabag meet for Anime Expo? Or are going to take their itabag there?

I plan on taking my ichimatsu itabag and hoping I won't be the the only one there
>>
>>9047058
i'm bringing one of my smaller ones! i think i'd get KO'd if i carried a heavy one all 4 days lol.

i don't think there's a meet planned though, hard to coordinate i would guess.
>>
>>9047058
I'm bringing my UtaPri bag(s?) regardless if there's a meet up or not!
>>
Was looking for itabags on Taobao and my friend hit the jackpot and said I could share.

If my bag base arrives in time I should have two bags ready! I'd be down for a meetup, there's plenty of places around that would be good meetup locations.

>>9047127
Thank you anon, you're a godsend!
>>
>>9047127
Nice work anon! I'll add these to the google doc.

I don't have my bag finished yet but will have a smaller one finished in time. Hopefully at AX there will be some booth selling a bit of itabag supplies.

I take it back. I can't handle doing just one day. I'm going to be going all three days (I just won't get in until 5 on friday, thank god I live right y the train.) I'll be carrying my Trafalgar Law and One Piece girls bags on Friday and my Jojo bag on Saturday. Not sure about Sunday yet. Probably Jojo again though since I'm now carrying that as my regular bag haha
>>
>>9047058
dunno if I'll be going to AX this year (too broke from merch lol), but I live in the area, so I'd be down to meet up in little tokyo or somewhere nearby.
