I think it depends on where you are, Kotori and Nico are also most common around the cons in my area. Rin for least common and Umi/Hanayo for 2nd least common.
Is it just me or is there someone hitting these threads and incessantly shitting on Nozomi's? That cosplayer definitely isn't perfect but she's fine. There's lots worse out there. There's someone lurking in these threads with a Nozomi shrine being unnecessarily salty over their waifu. .

In my area Kotori and Nozomi are the most popular, with Maki and Rin also being very popular and then Nico. All the others are less common.

if you have a huge amount of time, sew the edges (like, just completely cover the edges with thread, a straight stitch is what it seems to be called?)
otherwise, maybe just cover them with some fraying sealant thing (there are liquids sold for this afaik) or if it's a synthetic material you could try the burning method.

I really don't care for this artist's style but desu the thing that bugs me the most is that Nozomi and I have nearly the same given measurements (except for waist, because her waist is impossibly tiny). I know these artists aren't paying attention to given weights/etc, but it still makes me feel like they're calling me fat too. I struggle with ED too so it's just... gah. I think the new choir set is really cute. I've got a big pile of white fabric laying around, so I may have enough to make a large portion of Eli's outfit. Depends on the cosplayer, I think-- girls with very pale skin can pull off a bright orange wig, but girls with tan skin or yellow undertones need something a little more subtle. Her hair color varies with the art, so just go with what works best.

As far as I can tell I have very similar proportions to her (a little taller and bigger in each measurement by about 1-3 inches for each one) and I always have people complaining they could be as skinny as me. If you do any taobao or shopping for lolita brands you can tell quickly their size standards are much different. An Asian XL garment is more like an 8-10 US. Smaller people in general and not a lot of huge portion sizes.
What I find hilarious is in the anime they have a whole episode dedicated to putting Hanayo and Honks on a diet and exercise routine. But in the mobile game Hanayo tries to diet and everyone acts like she's anorexic and tell her that her chub is part of her appeal and she needs the energy to keep up her performance stamina.

I think that episode was more that they had gained a lot more weight, which is a pretty big deal because they gained it on top of idol activities. I think the worry was that they wouldn't be able to keep up with the rest of the members. It is a bit silly, though. I guess Hanayo's regular, slightly-"chubby" frame is what they're talking about in terms of her appeal.

Like myself, I have a pretty large bone structure and people say I look a good 20 lbs lighter than I am when I'm at a comfortable weight just because of how broad my shoulders/hips are, I can carry the weight without it 'weighing' me down looks wise. It's obvious the artist wasn't trying to draw them as the original artist intended, though. Just like most cutesy animes, Love Live has same-facing with different eye colors/hair/tit sizes. Nothing wrong with it-I think it's adorable-but this artist wanted to draw everyone unique and it's not my cup of tea but I can appreciate it. Anime artists could design characters more variably than color coded girls with slightly different eye shapes, especially if they're going to be throwing them in the same school uniform.
I think the girls in the show calling Honoka and Hanayo too thick when they look the same waist size as everyone else is worse than drawing Nozomi fat in a non-mocking way desu.

I don't think it's exactly that she gains weight. Like a few of us have been saying, it seems to have more to do with how much squish she has to her compared to others rather than the size of her body or her weight.

I'm working some right now and if you're looking for a cheap base I found some on ebay, they were really easy to take the innards out, and I'm using battery EL wire with the driver placed in the headphones. EVA foam for the ears, and gems for the flower. Good luck with whatever option you go with anon!

Same-face is preferable to this garbage. The characters don't even have the same basic traits as their original designs, Nico shouldn't be tanned when her charm point is her pale skin and there is no reason why Umi or Rin should be drawn with squinty pointed eyes when their eye shapes are anything but that. It's lazy "variety" that hardly reflects anything from the original source material.
Physical differences among idols in a group are generally more subtle, you could make them not same-face/same-body without resorting to ugly man-face/man-bodies.

This. Let's be honest most Japanese high school girls aren't going to look vastly different from each other. I had a hard time following Wake Up Girls! because too many girls looked too similar on top of the fact the characters weren't super memorable.
Also it depends on the art but the Love Live girls have different eye shapes I think it's mostly in the anime art. In the game there's soem variations because there's multiple artists.

I suspect all the ugly faces and overweight bodies etc are because these Tumblr people are ugly and/or overweight. They don't get any attention from guys/girls and thus draw everyone ugly as some sort of projected self-hatred/bitterness.
Which Cards/Outfit is your favorite for all the girls? I know everyone has their favporite girl and they have lots o pretty card, but every girl have THAT card you just really like and you would even consider cosplay your least favorite girl just for that outfit.

Yep! I was going to remove the ear cups (?) use masking tape to get even lines and just paint it with some acrylics.
Fair warning that I forgot to mention. The drivers from the EL wire will not fit in the ear cups so if you plan on putting it in there you'll have to get smaller ones. (I got lucky and had a local place that carried some, but I still had to do some soldering)

I always thought that Maki was absolutely stunning and seeing it on cgl got me interested in the series. I was really surprised to find out she wasn't the main girl.

There's a general consensus that Kotori/Nico gets the most decorated/cutesy cards and that Solge trio (Eli/Umi/Maki) get more sexy/fan-service cards. Umi may get more boring cards because she isn't a very flashy girl, but in general many fans complain that Rin gets the most plain cards (especially event cards).

I'd say go for one of the two Hanayo ones. Honoka's looks so simple you might give the impression that you just pulled a random dress out of your wardrobe and called it a day (especially since it's not a popular card). I really adore the Marine set, but the first one looks complicated enough to be a challenge (the apron, mainly) but simple enough to still be called an easy costume.

I really hope they continue to release muse cards for awhile. But as it is JP has waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many cards and way too few spots to hold them. To be fair the recent sets (Animals, Circus, Victorian, Carolers) have been very questionable on idolized designs so maybe it's time to take a break. I feel like if klab wants to add in Aqours to keep the game alive.. they need to do a whole lot more then that.
No matter how much I love Muse, and my best girl, I burn out of events since it's nothing more then repeating the same beat maps and watching my stamina all the time. It's not that it isn't fun, it's just that they really need to add more.
I don't like Cinderella Girls nearly as much as I love Muse, but goddamn you can't deny that Starlight Stage looks amazing. Half the reason I play it is just to see those nice 3D models dancing around.
