It's more about the feeling from the outfit than the actual clothing. Hair is important too.

Straight up costume-tier. Spooky Larme surely looks more wearable and real-clothesy than this?
>>
I will repost this here since last thread was abandoned.

Do you think it would be acceptable to use fluffy jumpers with bunnies on them in larme? I bought two recently - a white one with two gray bunnies (with the backs of the bunnies on the back as well as pom poms for their tails) and a pink one with a very big head of a bunny in the middle. Combining pastels with fluff and bunnies I thought it would work great with larme but then I realised that most knits in larme tend to be more discrete (in terms of graphics) and usually just use tshirts with a but of writing at most. What do I do, how do I work them?
>>
>>8642454
Yeah, but they're more for inspiration than anything. The OP pic is from the actual magazine.
>>
>>8642454
3 of those are literally just brand Halloween costumes, and 1 is Halloween makeup. All three of those brands are larme featured brands. lol

Rosemarie/Syrup costume one piece.

Also, I'm thinking of making a brands list with google spreadsheets like the taobao thread lists. What information would you want included? Right now I'm thinking official site, blog, twitter and instagram links, does the brand offer international shipping, and a section for reviews (which will probably remain blank for the most part unless we start getting some English reviews). Anything else that would be useful? I would also include crossover brands in another section (like himekaji brands that have Larme pieces).

I was also thinking of making an FAQ but I know I'm going to get tripped up on the whole "what is Larme?" question. It's been expanded on many times in these threads but people still don't seem to get it and I don't know how to further explain it.

I think once I get the format together I'll open it up for anyone to edit. If it gets abused though I'll close it down to a few editors. I'll try and work on it tomorrow after work.

And explanations might be good. Maybe a couple sentences on common themes for each brand?
>>
>>8643356
Brain fart, you must have meant explanation for Larme kei. That would be much appreciated. But I do still think a few sentences for each brand would be helpful as well. I'll see what I can come up with.

I seriously love Larme but I don't understand where or how to get the cloths and if they will fit because woop woop pullover my ass too fat.

No, it's not hard to google, but receiving the information from someone who understands it properly and has experience is much easier than wading through tons of inaccurate and confusing information. Plus it actually contributes to the thread and overall discussion, and eventually when people order things, they'll contribute further. Completely unlike calling people stupid and telling them to google things, which contributes nothing.

Ok, here's what I've done with the brands list so far. I'm sorry that there's not much yet, I was mostly working on formatting and on what sections to include. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to know about each brand, let me know or put it under suggestions.

If anyone wants to help tackle the FAQ, let me know. "[email protected]" I've already added you as an editor. I intend to include at some point an explanation of Larme kei (probably a combination of various explanations from Larme threads past), mirrors of the k.i. video, maybe some other little Larme videos I've found in my searches, some of the general larme tumblrs or blogs (definitely yours, larme-kei.tumblr), maybe the partial scans list (I will never post full scans so please don't ask). Anything else anyone would want to know or have all in one place?

For now the brands lists are open for editing. If it's abused I will turn full editing off. I really don't want to have to do that though, I think it's better if we all contribute.

I also broke them into two categories, Larme brands and borderline brands. I'm not sure if this is the best terminology, but I wanted to make the distinction so that newbies don't, say, go buying up a ton of Liz Lisa thinking it will work for Larme when only some of their catalog is appropriate. Do you guys want it a different way?

Would anyone be interested in a models tab? For all their social media accounts?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.

(If someone wants to help make this pretty but still functional, let me know. I'm not too good with this stuff yet.)
>>
>>8645040
I live in Tokyo and poke around 109 frequently so I'll be happy to add in things like brand quality and whatnot if anyone wants to know.
>>
>>8645048
That would be awesome! hmm, that isn't really so much of a "review" though. I'll add a comments section for each brand for that sort of stuff. If it gets too unwieldy with comments we can have separate sheets for the most popular brands (like if people want to discuss quality in detail or how to order from them, but I don't think we're near that point yet)
>>
>>8644626

Good idea. I'll add a tab specifically for Western brands when I get home. I think it would be better to have it separate, since they'll likely be more accessible to those abroad.
>>
>>8645690
Added to the list.

Feel free to change things around. I'm not sure if it will let you guys add sheets, but you can edit the ones already there and if you want more sheets I can add some later.

If anyone else is seriously interested in editing let me know. Adding my email in here again. Otherwise everyone can continue to edit the brand pages.

I'll add in video links to the FAQ later. At least so we have something for people to look at.

I am wondering if there is a way of preventing newfags from assuming that larme is swankiss-inspired fairy kei, like some people already do on tumblr.
How can we emphasize the relative simplicity of larme when compared to other fashion styles but without making it look like pastel normcore?
>>
>>8646190
Okay gonna change them to mix in that case.

We can address that in the FAQ but I think it will be hard to "prevent" newbies from assuming that. If that's what grabs people's attention that it is what it is. It's like cult party kei and peignoirs over everything. Pretty much every jfashion falls pray to it.

Maybe linking them to the k.i. Video would be best, since it emphasizes more of Risa Nakamura's style.

I had a look at it and it's a super good idea now that I think about it. I never realised why I have such limited outfits until now and looking at those images I kinda realise I only own dresses and cardigans so I can't mix them a lot lol.
Maybe personalise your images, just putting a random page is kinda cheating.

First of all - thanks to the anons for making such helpful spreadsheets and always giving advice!

I'm thinking about making an order from DreamV/Mon Lily, since it's pretty cheap and the quality of their products is pretty good.

What do you anons think of the items I picked out? Is it a good starting point? Are there any other basic items I should grab? (I know the plaid dress probably isn't Larme - but it's cute as fuck anyways.)

I already have a bunch of ankle socks (some with patterns and stuff), velvet chokers, and I'm going to make my own heart cut out skirt and fluffy shoes/earrings. I otherwise really suck with accessories, though. Maybe some tulle hair bows and pearl bracelets? A few berets?
>>
>>8647533
I think you should think about adding some cute pencil skirts as well as a couple of croptops.
>>
>>8647533
Berets are coming into trend. A couple of solid colour ones should do the trick.

She needs a knit sweater though.

You might have to use your imagination a little, winter anon. Japanese girls are willing to brave the cold for fashion so they don't really dress for the weather.
>>
>>8648932
From what I noticed in my magazines and street snaps, they tend to just wear normal weather fashion and throw a thick and fluffy coat on top?
>>
>>8648918
I don't get why people ask for pants in the cold, not feeling the cold is all about having as many layers as possible, which is much, much easier in a skirt, compare:

>Underwear
>Socks
>Trousers

to

>Underwear
>Skin tone tights
>Safety shorts/thermal shorts
>Ankle socks
>Long socks
>Skirt

You can double up on the tights and socks as well.

>>
>>8649065
Yeah I've noticed that too. I think a nice faux fur jacket/coat could work into the style.
>>
>>8649163
It's extremely uncomfortable and wont actually fit in most cases. They definitely wouldn't fit under the only example of trousers being worn in larme in this thread, not without bulging and riding up.

Anyway, the point was that everyone just assumes trousers are warmer because they're trousers. If all the people wanting to wear trousers are going to layer up to that extent anyway, why not just wear a skirt and look better?
>>
>>8649220
Yeah i personally don't find pants to be that warm. They work for fall for me but after that it's back to skirts and fleece or wool tights.

Really? You can easily layer fleece tights under pants as long as the pants arent extremely tight. Most of my pants are loose enough where i can layer a pair of fleece tights and otk socks underneath
>>
>>8650915
Yeah but we're talking about pants that would fit in larme specifically, the only example of which were a high waisted pair of skinny jeans with the midriff exposed.
>>
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but what would you search on ebay/aliexpress to get stuff like this?

And do you think it would look fine on not skinny people? im not exactly fat but I have chubby lil legs but an ok waist, im worried it would end up looking frumpy. Thanks!
>>
>>8650992
if you got a big ass you could wear poofy skirts
>>
>>8649220
>>8649248
The benefit of loose pants over just a variety of socks and other tight underwear is that they add a layer of air instead of just more fabric. Even something like >>8648918 (assuming of course you don't max it out with your underwear) will do that.
>>
>>8650992
Typing in brand names usually works on Aliexpress, so like Liz Lisa, Katie etc.

Ebay you would probably have to be a bit more specific to the item you are trying to find and just use the filters to narrow it down.
>>
>>8649220

Okay here it is.
I made a list of pieces along with some vague images, and my plan is to get all the pieces in my basics, as well as some accent colours.
I left out sweaters since that is a bit basic and I am kinda covered with turtlenecks.
Feedback welcome.

I think it works for an exaggerated, stylised look, in print at least. I think it would be a bit awkward in person however.

That said, I think it's refreshing to see fuller lips on Japanese models, it's actually quite unconventional and somewhat 'out there' by regular Japanese beauty standards.

that makes sense but didn't the gyaru thing also reflect her personal style? Not a criticism, I just find it interesting.

I also can't help but think that a lot of larme, aside from the make-up perhaps, looks a lot like western feminine hipster type fashion. I feel like people would have a fit if you called larme 'Japanese hipster' though.

I love darker colours in larme, i've been trying to put together some autumn-friendly outfits out of stuff I already own/am planning to get (I might just be completely off the mark though)
any feedback gulls? really undecided about the bag
>>
>>8660456
I like it, not a fan of the shoes in this though, I know larme looks use chunky shoes but with the laces, I don't think they're feminine looking enough - as it stands they make the whole ensemble look more grungy.
>>
>>8660456
Dress and chunky boots alone are very kinderwhore, a la courtney love
The dress itself looks quite 1960s, or even otome.
I mean I'm sure it could work for larme, I have a hard time discerning the style, but if I just look at the outfit aesthetically right now it doesn't look good. That pin looks cheap and doesn't really go, plus the socks are rather plain. Maybe ruffly ones/ ones with more texture could be nicer? Not a fan of the notes bag either. Sorry I'm not very helpful...
>>
>>8660465
>>8660479

cheers for the feedback anons, good point about the shoes, will try to find a pair of decent mary janes
surprised about the dress though as larme in general seems to have quite a lot of 1960s/retro inspiration

>>
>>8660491
Yeah the dress is really nice, I really like it (where's it from?), it's just my personal style would lean more towards retro 60s or otome so I'm not sure how to make it 'larme' when I'm confused about the definition as is.

I can't find any picture examples of very short hair but I have seen quite short, above the chin bobs appear in larme here and there. In my opinion, it might me good to take inspiration from feminine icons such as Audrey Hepburn as I really think aspects of her style could lend itself well to larme.

Bow hair bands and small bow side clips look really great with pixies too, as well as all sorts of hats and berets.

at the bottom it has a size chart and shows you the length.

>Free Size -Waist-66CM-90CM/26.0"-35.4" Hips-110CM/43.3" Length- 70CM/27.6".

this way you have a sure bet. but since you're short the length should be fairly accurate to you since asian sizes run smaller, and they are generally shorter

I don't think there are, unless you get lucky and find something Larme-able on Closet Child or something.

Honestly though, the best thing you can do is go to the thrift store and find some items in your size to customize, if you're going the secondhand route. Buy a skirt and cut out some hearts in the bottom, add some ribbon to the collar of a shirt, buy an old ruffley pillow and make it into a bag... Hell, this shirt from Mon Lily (pic related) would be so easy to replicate if you got a lace shirt for a few bucks and added a pom-pom and neck detail!

I'm not the most DIY inclined, but even I could probably throw together this stuff with a few minutes spare time. Probably your best bet!

Too much skin to be larme , I think, the balance is off. Her legs, arm, and chest are showing. Even if she's a honey cinnamon model that doesn't mean everything she wears is larme...

Dream-holic probably has the closest things to larme appropriate wigs here

What chest? She's covering it with the jacket. I think you are reaching here. If I had posted this with no commentary you wouldn't have said a thing.

Its Larme.

This. I hate when people just want to argue because they think they know more about ~*nippon fashion*~ than others.

It already looks so tangled, these wigs are going to be a nightmare to maintain

Why not put in a 'miscellaneous' tag for things that don't fit in a category.
>>
What's a good hair color for larme? It seems like most of the models have dark brown hair as of the more recent issues.
>>
>>8672100
dark brown then?
>>
>>8671131
thirding, it's Larme.
>>
>>8671131
The op of the photo was right it's a costume with larme styling.

I've been getting into Larme kei lately and I had already been looking into changing up the decor in my room so I was hoping to do something that would fit with Larme. So something not too cutesy and a little melancholic. Anyone have any ideas on how to achieve that? I'm thinking of having a dusty pastels color palette mixed with black or grays.

You linked the skirt not top, I'd like sauce on the top

idk if this has been posted but I found this interview with the larme beauty editor. Can anyone translate? or give the gist of it?

This is a reupload, I don't know why that user stole it. It has come up in threads before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBhUFPZFYSA

Overview:
>LARME is intended for girls from 18 to 25 (interviewer says she's 26 and asks if she can still wear it, editor says yes)
>she made it because she likes the atmosphere of photobooks and picture books and there wasn't a magazine that really focused on that aesthetic at the time
>says "larme" means tears in French and she named the magazine this way because she wanted to create something that could take girls away from their troubles and cheer them up in times of sadness
>wants LARME to be read by girls with a desire to change themselves and become cuter

She also notes that the motifs change from issue to issue and are largely dictated by whatever her interests are at the moment, which I think is good to dissuade the mentality of "you have to use pompoms/shells/etc." It's definitely about capturing the right mood above all else.
>>
>>8676889
So if they're going for French then it should be pronounced lar-may instead of larm, then.
>>
>>8676913
In French it's much closer to "Lahm."

Thank you anon! I appreciate it!

My Japanese is shit but she does say it takes some inspiration from the 1997 Lolita film with its use of cherry prints etc right?

I think it might be uncomfortable to hear but the 'coquettishly cute' image that Larme seems to focus on certainly seems to have a bit of the 'other' lolita thing about it, and this kinda just confirms it to me.

I'm not suggesting that Larme wants us to swan about pretending to be under-age nymphets but let's not try to pretend these elements aren't there.

I guess this just amuses me as the amount of hate and derision western 'nymphet fashion' gets on places like tumblr is immense.
