I think on most cases it has something to do with their broken expectations about where Rebellion would go. Its trailer ending with Madoka's lines from the scene when she appears before Homura, at the time it passed off as it this was an ending set in stone no matter all the weirdness that had come before it.
Too bad for those who couldn't adapt to the actual movie I guess.
