Why not just buy this? It's the best passive index they do, why bother with the boring old indexes of large companies.

thanks vanguard!

I think this year's performance has been mostly flat. In the coming years they say we should only expect about 8% in yearly returns.
>>
Unless you have like over 1,000,000 to put in this, you're not really going to be making anything worthwhile
>>
>>987293

Averaging 10% is averaging 10%, regardless of capital. Enjoy your 99% attitude though.
>>

What makes this the best? Past performance doesn't guarantee future returns.

I'm buying Vanguard 2060 Target Fund until I have at least $50k in there.

I started with a 2050 retirement fund this year.

I seriously don't understand how these funds are supposed to generate 7-10% yearly. Most of the historical returns are like 2-5% according to their own website.

Am I just retarded?
>>
>>987845
The ones that are targeted for later years are suppoed to be more agressive (ie Vanguard 2060 vs 2020)

>how these funds are supposed to generate 7-10% yearly
What are "these funds" that you're asking about? If you mean the small cap global fund referenced by OP, then understand that he's trolling. No one would seriously put all their money into one fund, let alone that one.

If you mean funds in general, then you have to look at a complete set of broadly diversified funds like a "Four Fund Portfolio" or an all-in-one retirement fund.

So they bet on future share prices?

Stay poor, madfag
>>
>>987845

Index trackers will average 6%, 7%, 8% w/e over a long time frame

Obviously the performance dips when bonds are mixed in to the basket funds
>>
>>987268

What exactly did you expect in 5 months? A 20% increase? If you put money with vanguard you should have an investment mindset.

If you want to speculate you can buy small caps or penny stocks. Or even better, just go to a casino.
