I seriously don't understand how these funds are supposed to generate 7-10% yearly. Most of the historical returns are like 2-5% according to their own website.

What are "these funds" that you're asking about? If you mean the small cap global fund referenced by OP, then understand that he's trolling. No one would seriously put all their money into one fund, let alone that one.
If you mean funds in general, then you have to look at a complete set of broadly diversified funds like a "Four Fund Portfolio" or an all-in-one retirement fund.
