I've read plenty of these books, and the books that are about to be mentioned in this thread. In my time reading them, I've learned that the books are only as useful or valuable than the people reading them. As long as the author is giving you *actionable advice* it is in your best interest to take it into action. Just reading the books, for the sake of "soaking up the knowledge" is deceptively helpful. It's mental masturbation.
The best thing you can do is to take notes while reading. Study these notes before you go to bed. Take these notes for quick reference when you're out on the field.
This is simple cliche advice, yes, but people seem to forget this all the time.
Also: stay the fuck away from people who claim that reading is useless. They most likely have a closet full of worn out kneepads.
