Did a bit with a simulator in college as a hobby, but it was less analysis than general forecasting.

As a rule, it outperformed the market on good days and underperformed on bad days.

Around the time I stopped working on the system I was exploring how to anticipate "good", "bad", and "volatile" days in order to trade more conservatively during the latter two and more aggressively during the former. But news analytics is a really, really data intensive approach.
