Are there any CFPs on /biz/? What's your life like? Would you recommend others pursue your career?

a lot of senior agents left the industry after 2008
it has insane money making potential, but is essentially a none service. Really depends where you stand morally, if you just want to make a ton of money, go for it

What if I enjoy helping people? Can't I just make a reasonable amount of money without leeching off of wealthy folk?
>>
I ask because I'm currently interviewing for Advisor Ahead's resident financial advisor program and am worried I'll hate myself if I just end up being a parasite taking advantage of people.
>>
Ok... Yes you can help people. With out taking advantage of them. But your income will be less than the guys bleeding them for every red cent.

this, advisors that actually help are don't make nearly as much

I'm a second year finance student and I'm pursuing this designation. Made a thread about it last week. Friendly bump.

Aren't advisers/planners just glorified brokers?
>>
>>974510
No, they deal with helping people manage their money on a wide variety of things--not just investments. Brokering may very well be part of their job, but so is helping them decide what house they can buy, helping a company expand, etc.

Yes.
