So I recently transitioned from one job to another. I had worked 40 hours at the previous job and I just realized that I was payed for a full 80 hours. What should I do? Is it safe to keep the money or would there be legal action taken against me if I did in the future?

Move to Monaco and live the big life on that $15 x 80. Escape the fascist feds and enjoy your early retirement you bigshot you.

If I get overpaid I say nothing ,just plead ignorance.

You better be careful OP, if you don't report that WalMart might send a collection agency to rape your ass for that whole $200
>>
They probably won't take legal action but they could ask for the money back later and possibly fire you for not saying anything.

Tell someone

Your previous job paid you too much? Don't say shit. Legally its their mistake.

If they figure it out and then decide its worth pursuing, just play dumb (and lawyer up depending on how much it is).

You may not have to pay it back anyways - all sorts of laws on this but those aren't even worth looking for unless they figure it out.

Don't bring it to their attention, but if they ask for it back you've gotta give it back.

These fuckers saying "play dumb" are retarded. There is a huge well documented paper trail of what happened.

They probably held back a week's pay so they are just returning it to you.

We deal with this all the time in the military, finance fucking up pay grades, BAH, anything you can really think of.

We really only have 1 rule when it comes to it:

Don't spend money you didn't earn. So just hold on to that extra $250 that's burning a hole in your pocket, and if they don't ask for it in a year or two, you're probably safe.
