I'm about to go give my 2 weeks notice. It's a travel/labor type job with mediocre pay and I hate it. Been there about 4 months. Never quit a job before so how do I do this respectfully?

I also don't have another job lined up but I'm comfortable enough with my current financial state to be jobless for a little while.

any tips?

You should always have some form of steady income ready at hand before you quit any job. Even though you may be comfortable being jobless for a few months, anything can happen. Tomorrow you can break a bone or be involved in a car accident and then all your savings vanishes instantly.

Get another job before you quit.

What job do you have lined up that has better pay?

Ignore the retard who can't read OP.

Just sit down with your manager in private and just tell him the truth. It's employment, not slavery, so there really doesn't need to be a reason other than you're just not happy doing it. If you think it may take a little longer than 2 weeks to replace you, you may want to offer to stay on until they can adequately replace you, but that's entirely up to you.

After that, I'd probably wait until the boss announces it before letting your coworkers in on it. And from that point, just do your job as well as you can for the remaining time you have and you're home free.

Good luck.
