Is it a bad idea to get a .io domain name?
It's for my indie game studio, .io seems to be the trendy thing to have for techy startups lately

Well, I'd say it depends on if you can get the domain name you want for those without adding too much stuff onto it and making it longer.
.xyz is trending and odds are you can get exactly what you want with it

I can get both .io and .com for the same price, both exactly what I want
If I get the .io i'll also want to get the .com just for squatters purposes though
