Certification/License for decent paying jobs?

A relative is pushing me to get a certain license. Basically, in any building that uses large refrigeration equipment must have an engineer on duty to watch over it. This license qualifies you for that job. He worked this job and said it was chill. He didn't do much, and the night shift guys usually slept/studied. He said he made $30-40/h. I live in a major city so nearly every other building needs one of these guys (however, most people don't leave once they get in). Also, my uncle is still getting offers for this job and could always try and hook me up. I looked up the salaries in my city, and they range from $60k to nearly 6 figures. Tuition for the courses is ~4k and it takes around 6 months I believe. It's only 2 days a week and I could pay the tuition up front if I needed to. I'll be doing these courses while in college, but my upcoming semester isn't going to be difficult. Should I do it? Are there better licenses available? Would they be worth considering without having somebody who can get you in? $30/h sounds pretty damn good. Hell I could quit college if I needed too and still be okay.
