(Just a heads up I'm a bit new to the whole stock game)
So AAL has a current P/E ratio of 3.02 (as of this post) but I am a bit skeptical over the companies long term outlook (they've havent been performing too well in the last 2 years) especially considering a possible increase in oil prices in 2017 which might strain the company further.
So /biz/, should I buy or should I pass?

Airlines suck ass man. Their margins are paper thin and they are always vulnerable to energy cost fluctuations. They all sit on piles of debt.

I noticed that. Delta airlines also has a very low P/E. I have to wonder if it's because the market is predicting a serious drop in their earnings.

Forgot pick
Don't ever invest in airlines. If you do, go Delta. Their metrics are always better than any other major competing airline.
t. I work for a major airline in their business operations

Then fuck off and stop making threads you dipshit. Asking a bunch of neets on a croatian ballroom dance forum what to do with your money is just so so so mind numbingly retarded. Just stop.

Don't pay attention to AAL's P/E ratio. The airline industry generally has a low P/E. DAL's is 6.69, ALK's is 9.06, AC.TO's is 3.88, UAL's is 2.4.
Also, I just want to point out that American is literally the worst performing of the five major US airlines (Delta, American, United, Alaskan, Southwest). Just look at this shit. Even Allegiant is doing better than them.
